Really good 20 minute interview of 3G by Rob Dauster starting at about the 1:20 mark of this podcast.

Talked about Fred, developing players, outlook for this year, why he stays in Wichita, compensation of players, most improved players from last year, favorite restaurants in Wichita and favorite road arena to play in.

Seriously, is HCGM not the best coach interview in all of college basketball? An interviewers dream. No “coach speak”, just real, detailed answers. And what’s the number one thing that has kept him in Wichita? Fans and community.

This is a great listen. First time I’ve heard him discuss the Austin Reeves transfer (“knew we weren’t going to be very good the next season and wanted to go to a winning program, and wanted to rehab his shoulder”). I’m sure there’s a bit more to it than that but again, first I’ve heard him really talk about it.

For all you “Bring back football” folks you probably won’t like what he has to say about what keeps him in Wichita. Not only do they not have to compete with professional sports teams in Wichita but “we don’t even have a football program” to compete with. So I think he’s probably gotta be the first guy to get on board if you all want football at Wichita State!

Temple forward J.P. Moorman joins The Scoop, OwlScoop.com's weekly podcast, to discuss his development as a player, what led him to Temple to begin with, the best players he's ever defended and more. Plus, the OwlScoop.com staff breaks down Temple football's loss to SMU, previews this weekend's crucial game vs. UCF and, as always, answers questions from the mailbag.

Not media.. but an interview with Temple's JP Mooreman. At around the 1 hour mark, they ask him what was his favorite home and road game of his career. He calls out a single home win over Houston, then for the road game he mentions "anytime we visit Wichita State, that arena is so crazy and loud"

Editorial: One hopes the KU-MU rivalry is different this time

”If KU wants to create a rivalry that matters, begin playing Wichita State in basketball every year. There are many KU fans who would much rather see that game. The reasons that KU previously cited for not scheduling WSU seem hollow now. If the power of athletics is as important as some university officials want us to believe, KU should schedule Wichita State on an annual basis. It would make Wichita State as an institution stronger.”

interesting take on them and MU.

Personally would love to see the KU vs WSU games but also not losing any sleep on it.

The Hatfields and McCoys made for a great story, but they didn’t make for a great neighborhood. It is a thought worth remembering as the University of Kansas resumes its athletic rivalry with the University of Missouri. KU last week announced the creation of a six-game basketball series between KU and MU that will run […]

As long as Billy is head coach, it'll never happen. Too much soreness after Marshall pulled a clown suit over him the last time out.

Although I suppose the good news is that Billy's future with the flagship may be dwindling.

Wow -- who would've ever thunk it? An editorialist from NE Kansas suggesting that the Chckens play WSU? Yes, I know; it seems a little condescending -- the glorious Chickenhawks should do WSU the favor of playing them, for the good of Kansas as a whole. But it's still surprising to see in print, whatever the rationale. And it actually would be good for the state, as pretty much every pundit outside the athletic complex in Lawrence has realized for a long time now.

Nice article from USA Today regarding our Shocks:

All the attention in the American Athletic Conference these days is on Memphis, while Wichita State is quietly plotting to play spoiler this season

I don't disagree with the writer's assertion that we're flying under the radar again. That's ruined the day of a few college BB fans who thought they would walk all over our Shocks.

College basketball ratings 2019-2020 - Vegas Stats & Information Network

"22. WICHITA STATE - Gregg Marshall is coaching a sleeper team in my estimation. Marshall pushed a young team to a 14-4 record down the stretch last season. Jaime Echenique, the team’s top returning scorer and rebounder, is 6-foot-11 and 260 pounds. Dexter Dennis, Jamarius Burton and Erik Stevenson are guards with good size, and Marshall hauled in an outstanding recruiting class.

                            24. MEMPHIS - The Tigers are extremely talented yet overrated by most. Penny Hardaway hauled in five-stars James Wiseman, Precious Achiuwa and D.J. Jeffries. The 7-foot-1 Wiseman is the favorite to be the top pick in the next NBA Draft. Hardaway, an inexperienced coach, has a roster with no returning starters and 12 freshmen or sophomores.

                            25. VCU - Mike Rhoades is coaching a strong defensive team with four returning starters from a 25-8 season. The Rams top the Atlantic 10 and could be a factor in March.

                            34. CINCINNATI - Mick Cronin’s unexpected exit for UCLA is not a negative in Cincy, where John Brannen takes over a quality Bearcats team and plans to play a fast pace with full-court pressure defense.

THE NEXT FIVE: Houston (51), Wisconsin (52), Butler (53), USC (54), West Virginia (55)."
