Sorry ShoxMVC, but EO is already contributing and even contributed on the court last year. On a team that had 5 posts between 6-8 and 7-0, three seniors and a junior, the sophomore project 7 footer still got minutes on the court. While his time wasn't during crucial game moments, the fact that HCGM allowed him out there and the fact that he invited EO back speaks to his ability, value, and potential. I think that perhaps you just put too much stock into the EO thread...much as you are doing now after Shocker Madness.

I am sure you would love to eat crow on this at some point, so let's all just sit back and hope this slow roasted bird gets done before next year!

They may be working on Carl Hall at the 4, but that doesn't mean he won't play the 5. He's bigger than Durley, although not as offensively skilled. As others have stated, Orupke will have his usefullness and will see the court for as long as it takes for him to foul out. Even if it is something like Stutz (25 mins), Orupke (10 mins), Hall (5 mins) it works out just fine and will give many teams fits down low. We just don't want Hall to play a ton of minutes at the 5 until we get another player or two ready to contribute significantly at the 4. But I am sure we can work out 5 extra mins of coverage for him through a few different players and be just fine.

While watching Orupke at Shocker Madness, I saw a player who is more confident, mobile and reacts more than he thinks. To say he hasn't developed is ridiculous. No he isn't a NBA lottery pick and never will be while at WSU IMHO. I was disappointed I didn't see more from him at Shocker Madness, but only because of the reports we were receiving that he improved SOOOO much. I too thought we would see a whole new Orupke. Instead we saw a player who still has a long ways to go, but he has also come a long ways since he got here. Expectations were set so high when he got to Wichita we set the poor kid up to fail. Fans beat up Stutz for the past 3 years and are now focusing on Orupke. It sure is tough to be a WSU center. Face the facts, in the Missouri Valley we get project centers if you want a kid who is taller than 6'7" or so. Sometimes they work out, sometimes they don't. It's just the hand we are typically dealt.
"He called me around noon and was thrilled," Brandt said. "He said he was going to be a Shocker forever." -- RIP Guy, you WILL indeed be a Shocker forever!

          Truth
You miss 100% of the shots you don't take....

.....but, statistically speaking, you miss 99% of the shots you do take.

It depends on your definition of "factor" but this is one example of many posts by several individuals who dismiss EO as an important player for WSU over the next two years. I happen to think such posts are idiotic. I'm sure certain posters on SN think they are much smarter and more knowledgeable about basketball than is HCGM. This Public Service Announcement is for such posters:

"Gregg Marshall is the head coach of WSU's MBB program. He has many years experience recruiting, coaching, educating and mentoring young men who are student-athletes. He knows more about basketball than do you. If he states to the media that a player has improved a great deal, then it is his creditability that is on the line. You have no public creditability as a D1 head coach and you risk nothing by making "bold" predictions. Therefore, do not be offended if other people dismiss your comments or describe them in "colorful" ways."
Some posts are not visible to me. :peaceful:
Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

I didn't really want to start a new thread about this, but the Shocks played their closed door scrimmage today. Anacreon made this comment on twitter about it "scrimmage wasnt too bad..." Guess we will see if any other comments come from it.

I know this is irritating to most, but nevertheless, here is the college insider.com MidMajor preseason Top 25

Valley teams represented: Creighton 3, WSU 5, Indiana State 20. UNI and MSU are ORV.

Both Coach Marshall and Coach McDermott vote in this pole.

There shouldn't be. Information is not to be kept or relayed in any media. Suffice it to say that we were solid.

That's my point Doc...if they would've kicked our arse, someone probably would have leaky, leaky.

Unless they changed things since last year, scrimmages can be discussed in the media. Media just can't attend the scrimmage. Coaches can relay information about scrimmages to the media but scores and state are not to be kept. I believe Marshall has said a few things about past scrimmages.
