I haven't checked out that place for a solid 4 months, but since it was brought up, I went over there today.
The hypocrisy of that site is growing at an alarming rate. You have constant "trolling" and ripping by several posters, notably DoubleJayAlum, and what are their repercussions? Oh, they get a cute little bump by MVCfans in his "no trolling" thread. Not even a slap on the wrist. DJA has one of the worst histories of baiting on that site and does he get a penalty? Nope. Does he get his posts approved? Nope. It's free reigns for them. Several other posters do the same thing over and over and an eyelash isn't batted. But if I or a WSU fan would have done the same thing, they get blacklisted. That's why that site sucks worse than Valleytalk. It's no wonder too that there is a bias in the moderating, considering MVCfans is a Creighton fan. Creighton trolls must get a never ending leash.
I even noticed one of Wu Reaper's threads with audio clips over there. A Creighton poster and DJA immediately hijacked the thread and spun it downward. It even got to the hilarity of DJA complaining about WSU fans obsessing with CU.... IN A WSU HIGHLIGHT thread. Absolute hilarity. And then there was another similar thread of just audio clips where DJA called it trolling. Seriously? LOL. Of course, DJA and the CU troll are still freely posting without limitation. What a crock of sh*t. Irony of all ironies.
I'll definitely be checking out the ncaabbs forums this year when it comes to Valley fan interacting. At least there, everyone will be treated equally.

Deuces Valley.
... No really, deuces.

UNI and InSU fans on MVCFans are totally pumped with their recent successes in D1 ball. WSU's futility in the '90's is still brought up about every time someone makes a positive post about WSU.
Try to bring up WSU's tradition and #1 national rankings and F4 and E8 - well that's ancient history and can't be considered because most of the rest of the Valley was in a lower NCAA classification then, so WSU's history and tradition doesn't count because some other Valley member wasn't D1 then.
That site is a totally anti-WSU site. In the basketball world, we're worse than the Oakland Raiders in the football world. I've done my part to create that attitude by questioning why the MVC ever considered adding some of the schools they added. "Oh, let's lose Louisville and add Northern Iowa". I don't know if that exact situation ever happened but gee, thanks, MVC. Replace a powerhouse with a school just coming off of D2 status. Then that school gets a huge boost from becoming a part of the MVC and their fans use WSU's problems in the '90's to demonstrate that they are better than WSU.
Without the reputation of WSU, CU, Bradley, and Drake, the D2 schools added by the Valley would still be nothing more than the equivalent of Southland Conference members.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades. We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.
I was wondering how our participation in the Cancun Challenge tournament compared to the other (Multiple Team Events) MTE's for this year and was somewhat taken back by how far the Cancun Challenge was on my ranking scale. I used last year's ending RPI for each of the teams and this is how it came out. As a comparison, our (WSU's) MTE's RPI for Puerto Rico (2011) was 68 and Maui (2010) was 61.

Reason: Added additional data to the Maui Invitational, taking them from 7 D1 Teams to 11 and changing their RPI from #88 to 148#

I'm not the least bit surprised. This is not a good tournament this year. It's kind of hit and miss. Atlantis, Maui, Puerto Rico and Old Spice are normally the top 4. The rest will vary some and Cancun isn't always this poor.

Those tournaments that have the games before actually getting to the venue will always be higher because of the cupcake games at home. The cancun tourney still isn't that great when you remove those, but we've been spoiled with the Old Spice, Maui and PR tourneys recently. Also the Maui Inv has 11 D1 teams. They now have 4 extra cupcake teams the teams play before heading to Maui
Made the changes to the Maui Invitational by adding the four main-land tournament teams and their non-conference RPI took a big hit, dropping all the way to #148.
I am going to make a prediction that what ever benefit the MVC gets from Northern Iowa participating in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament, is going to be lost with our's, Creighton's and Illinois State's participation in the MTE's this year. The three teams in the MVC with best chance to getting into the NCAA post-season tournament, all got the worst MTE's to participate in this year.

I'm not sure why they added those cupcake teams. It really doesn't do anything for what is already considered the best tournament. And will apparently drag down the RPIs a little. Other tournaments would be better off trying to copy what Maui has done in the past and just go with 8 good/decent teams. Maybe it's too difficult to land a decent field that way, but the extra games are a better benefit to all if they're not against bodybag teams.

I believe the reason is that these tournaments only count as 1 game. So if you can play 4 games counting as 1, that would be better than 3. Most of these teams playing in a Maui or Atlantis type of tournament would also have a cupcake at home in the non-con. Thus these tournaments provide the cupcake at home without going against the number of games they are playing. Which for most of the teams playing in these events results in an extra home game for generating revenue.
Tournament Summary: The Cancun Challenge is hosting a bunch of small schools this year, but there won’t be a shortage of heat in the competition down in Mexico. Wichita State is arguably one of the best teams in the field, but they lost a lot. They’ll miss the trio of Joe Ragland, Garrett Stutz and Toure’ Murry and hope to ride good coaching and defense to success.
OK, I have my reservations at the Moon Palace and now my question is do we need to buy tickets for this like Puerto Rico or, since this event will be held on the resort grounds, if we just get in for free?
