I like "You can't do that". to make it simple - do it to the "Airball" sound. You is the same note as "Air". Can't is the same not as "Ball". Same for "Do that". Use it for opponent fouls.

Opponent Missed FT: "You blew it"

    Opponent Made FT: "Whoop-te-do-do"
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

      I like it.

Simple and to the point. And when said as an organized unit, it would be golden.

Their administration encourages and supports this activity.
Back in the mid to late 80's we actually did that when the student section sat toward center court behind the Shocker bench. It would happen when the Shox scored their first basket.
Problem was it delayed the game for clean up and the Administration at the time (Warren Armstrong not Jabali) put a stop to it just like football. It was really cool while it lasted.

I think organization is the key here. The well organized student sections of 2005-07 were successful based on their organizational skills, extreme fanatic behavior, and of course, some success on the court. Someone out there who has connections needs to branch out to the students who attends games and get some of those students as dedicated leaders to get this thing rolling. It could become one of the more envied student sections in the country to match the already envied atmosphere of Koch Arena in general.
It was a great time.....Made all of my years before it worth it. Every time I get to go to a home game now I hear how the Pep Band doesn't get to be rowdy any more with the rest of the Student Section.

Throwing anything will get you a stern warning from Security. If it reaches the court, you'll be watching the game on TV.

Frankly, all of this is a great sentiment, but unless WSU has changed in the semester I've been gone, it's all a pipe dream.

Seriously, you don't know how good you have it.

I know this is a student section thread, but does anybody really know what happened to the tuba in the Pep Band? That guy/instrument really makes the Fight Song pop! Among other music as well. I sure miss the tuba.

PS. This is an easy suggestion for me since I won't be there however if it catches on I'll do it in St. Louis.
Actually I think all the UNI fans participate not just the students. Their fans were doing the dance at IBA during their NCAA Tournamant game last year.

We would need to come up with our own music and dance moves.

I like the "You can't do that" chant idea on fouls.

For Missed FT's how about "Clang, clang, clang goes the [insert opponents nickname]. i.e. "Clang, clang, clang goes the Bluejay" sung of course to the tune of the Trolley Song.

For Makes how about "It's A Miracle"

I also would like to see us do something different leading up to the actual free throw shot. On the 1st free throw we should make as much noise as possible but just as the shooter starts his shooting motion go totally quiet. On the second free throw we should stay totally quiet until the shooter starts his shooting motion and then explode into noise mode. Or vice versa. I think a drastic change in environment, if properly timed, is more disruptive to a shooters concentration than just making a lot of continous noise.

Is there some regulation against a cheerleader "directing" the student section in a cheer, chant, heckle? To do the FT noise/quiet would take some direction, but could a cheerleader do that, much like a choir director building up cresendo and then cutting it off? If there is a rule against it, then the cheerleader could make the appropriate motions to the non-student crowd in front of him/her, and the students could just "happen to be watching". A cheerleader doing this would be much more effective than waving their fingers or pom-poms in the air.

Utah State could easily have the best student section in the nation.
