****ShockerNet will be down for upgrade on Saturday Oct 15th

We will be upgrading the forum software this Saturday, October 15th. I plan on taking the site down in the evening, and it will be down for an undetermined amount of time. Plan on not being able to access the site until Sunday. With most things, they don't go completely as planned, but if they run perfect, it should be back up late Saturday evening.

Things to expect with the upgrade:

- The software will be VBulletin 4.1.7 which is the newest version to date. Check out the specs if you like at https://www.vbulletin.com/index.php?do=features

- Upgrade on the skin.

- Facebook integration

--- You will be able to sync your Facebook account with your ShockerNet account. And new users will be able to simply register with their Facebook account.

--- The ability to "like" threads, which will be an easy way of sharing content to your friends.

- Smoother navigation of the forums, and profile pages.

- Addition of a "reputation" system, where you can "like" a post that you think is a good post, which will add to their running reputation tally.

- Larger options for profile pages, with full customization of your page, even down to the colors your page has.

I hope so, thats what makes shockernet so awesome, nobody else looks like this. anyhow, we have the best staff in the valley, because no board is as awesome as ours.

I've shown Royal the theme, and he told me aside from the new logo, it was hard to tell it was a new theme. I wanted to make it look as close as I could to this. But hard to have it be identical, cause it's two software. I came as close as I could.

And thanks Shock, I'm going to try and keep up the stellar work from past administrators.

I might play around with more ideas later, but I kept it simple, and tried to streamline it with Shocker Hoops.

I was thinking of how about using a basketball in the basketball forum, a baseball in the baseball forum, a volleyball in the volleyball forum, etc. But then I thought, what would be used for those forums that are not a specific sport? Or not a sport at all (Off-topic, Politics, etc)?

I'm not sure, but I think they can't or don't want to use University copyrighted material such as Wu or the WSU logo.
