I just do not want to see Toure hang his head like he did mid to late season last year. C'mon, Toure, this is your last go-round.. this year should be all gravy, my man.
He won't. This year he won't be expected to master yet a new position.
If Murry isn't asked to learn a new position this year (I'm thinking of the 3), then Kyles comes off the bench behind Murry at SG and one of the newcomers comes off the bench to back up Smith at the 3.
That takes a lot of minutes away from Kyles. I don't think any of the newcomers will be able to keep Kyles off the floor, so I think Murry becomes a 2/3 combo this year.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades. We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.
Subgod, my information came from El Universal, the Caracas daily. I did note that the Omaha Journal World had article and I looked at it. I don't know if I would trust the Omaha newspaper or the Caracas newspaper, but based on what I saw on TV, I would lean more to the Caracas newspaper. The games were on the sports cable channel for Venezuela, and since access to cable, I saw parts of another game (besides the Puerto Rico game), but I don't remember which one, I just remember I didn't see Echinique and the Venezuelans were losing.
I agree, he did have a good game against Canada, and the coach called him out specifically. He did have double figures in scoring and high single figures rebounding. Venezuela thumped Canada in that game. I would not put Canada's team as any stronger than the Brazilian National Team that Carl Hall was playing.
If he played against Brazil, I didn't know about it. I could not find anything in the newspaper that day that indicated he played.
I can also say that the game with Puerto Rico was on TV when I was on Margarita Island. We were eating, and I was able to watch most of the last half of the game and about 10 clock minutes after halftime. The Venezuelans got thumped in that game. When we first got in the restaurant, Venezuela was either in front or within a basket. By half they were about 15 points behind. In the entire part of the game I saw, which was just about half the game, there was no Echinique.
Saying that, I will again state that I think that Carl Hall will be able to handle Echinique when the two teams play this season. Based on what I saw and read, his duty was limited to mop-up action against weaker teams. I agree, it will be interesting if someone can come up with some information and post it here.
I just don't have any way to prove it, as El Universal did not have any archives relating to these games and the only other source (than the Omaha newspaper) that might have had statistics was a members-only website.
Although his coach called him out for special mention after Venezuela beat one of the worst team in the tournament doesn't mean he's worthy or Wooden Award mention or even as good as some of the players we'll have next year.
The Republicans ... are having a hard time getting their members to act as a unit instead of like a bunch of six-year-olds playing anarchist soccer; three teams, two goals, you decide.
