  • A win of course is a win, no matter how ugly at times. Seems like we are scoring in the 80's nearly every game, but gotta wonder how many more points we would be averaging if we didn't needlessly throw so many balls away?

    • A lot of the defensive issues come from getting beat off the dribble regularly. We have times where Landry and Austin move their feet well and keep their guy in front, but not consistently. Once you get beat off the dribble, your help defenders rotate over to help leaving somebody open. Not rocket science and I’m sure I’m not the first to say it, but I think that’s mostly where our defensive issues stem from. Completely fixable though. Good win today.

      • After the Cincy game everyone was talking about how awesome it was and how WSU was back. I wonder if the team has been drinking the koolaid a bit and the 2 sloppy games this week are the result.
Its a good landing if you can walk away, its a great landing if the plane can be reused the next day.

        • Getting the ball entered to a player at the FT line worked really well, except RK either cannot shoot or will not shoot. Surely he can hit that shot. It was so much different when MM was receiving that pass; he was a threat. The defense just allowed RK to receive the pass and then cover everyone else. Even RK's man slacked off him and doubled the post.

This is why mcduffie is so deadly as a 4 man.

While the defense against Cincinnati was ok for this year it would have been the 18th worst performance when comparing to 2013-2017 seasons via kenpom. This team is different and the defense is just not how they win.

Where did I say anything about defense?

I'm how we played overall the last 3 games.

My bad the comment before yours was about the defense and I assumed you were responding to it

Agreed, Cincy is a team we match up well against. They don't have a guard that can beat us off the dribble (well they do but they don't play him much .. Broome). We can generally overpower most defenses

Worst KenPom ranking since the injury fest of 2012-2013. There are valid reasons to be concerned about March.

Have you seen RK shoot free throws?

Okay. I guess that can happen when you post a couple ours after the game. You miss the context.

                • Worked late and just watched the game. Glad to get a road win. Our offense looked really good, aside from turnovers. Best game against the zone I can remember recently and a most of that was McDuffie. Really good to have him back in form. If he plays like this to finish the season and into the big dance, I think he’ll be wearing a different jersey next year.

As the season end approaches, I was thinking an next year...
                  1. I’m really going to miss Shaq Morris.
                  2. Austin Reaves will average at least 20 ppg next year.
                  3. If McDuffie leaves, I have no idea who will be in the starting lineup aside Reaves. Probably CJ, but jury is sill out.

                  • Landry is so careless with the basketball.
Rotations I guess are just going to be horrible forever. Teams go all world vs Shox D
Nurger comes in with 2 left and SMU gets about 5-6 straight offensive rebounds.

                    Shaq great
                    McDuffie awesome
Conner solid, and should be playing more. Defense already sucks, at least he takes care of the ball. This team better get to the mid to high 80s, because the defense is junk.

Landry careless: 4 asst, 2 TO.
McDuffie Awesome: 1 asst, 4 TO.

why would McDuffie leave? He has zero pro prospects right now.

Well, he's starting to look like the player in whom some teams were apparently interested last year, but one outstanding game does not a comeback make. Plus, he'd have a lot of guys to surpass between now and the end of the season to hope for any draft interest worth pursuing.

                  • Definitely not one of Nurger's better performances

Just imagine a player coming back from a foot injury and balling out when his team goes on a deep run to say the final four. All of a sudden this player is regarded by some scouts as a potential first round pick.

But instead of a redshirt freshman named Ron Baker, your a 6’8” SF who’s already thrown your name into the draft waters once for evaluation.

I’m not saying he’s for sure gone, but if he balls out in the big dance, the chances are much higher.
