You know, I get as angry as anyone when the Shox lose, and I honestly hate when we get outplayed. The loss vs SMU is one thing, but a no-show vs Houston is another. That being said, I didn’t expect us to roll through the American like we did the Valley. At the end of the day, we took our lumps, but we are sitting at 15-4 and 5-2. The season has a long way to go, and I think we can all appreciate that we actually have chances to redeem ourselves in the next 5-6 weeks. Heads up, work hard, move on to the next one. I’m behind Coach Marshall and the guys. Go get ‘em Shockers. There will be 10,506 people at Koch Arena next Thursday, and I fully expect the play angry Shockers we have grown to love.

Brown probably busts his butt in practices and does all the little things in practices that Marshall demands of his players. That gets him lots of court time. He's also a really nice guy.
Baker and VanVleet did the same in practices. They weren't "really nice" guys when it came to basketball. I believe Shamet said about Baker, "That is one mean dude". There aren't any "mean dudes" on this squad. Play Angry was built on playing with your hair on fire or one of your teammates would light your hair on fire. Shamet is the closest we have to a "refuse to lose" player. Brett Barney may be the second closest. The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

I would say there is a BB IQ problem before a talent problem. I don't think it's a lack of talent that causes people to travel with the ball multiple times every single game.

Houston did their best to pick apart our offensive limitations. Pressuring our guards revealed our poor poise with the basketball. That showed ore guards unwillingness to drive (looking at you Landry). That also showed our difficulty with post entry passes. These are things we've been whining about, but the offense still fared well. Houston focused on our limitations and it disrupted our whole game. This I'm sure is going to be fixed soon. Particularly Landry needs to bring more poise to ball handling and running offense.
The defense however, is bad. It doesn't seem like anything has been done/ worked to stop the bleeding.
No Tacko against UCF. What a bummer.

Most of our issues result from extreme stubbornness of the coaching staff.
We only go to scoring lineups in emergencies. And then go back to what didn’t work as soon as the game gets close.
McDuffie isn’t a three - give him a better matchup by playing the four.
We have started off poorly every game and yet nothing changes.
We keep playing two “5’s” together - i have no idea why
We don’t foul applying pressure. If we want steals and to disrupt the offense, we must be willing to live with some fouls.
I am ok with zone defense, but we look completely lost playing it. Wide open shots within a pass or two and no block-outs are the only consistent features of a HCGM zone.
