Houston is defending all the 3 shooters tight. They are ignoring the possibility that one of the perimeter guys might drive to the hoop. That's because Houston's perimeter defenders are quicker than the Shox perimeter players. When there's no threat of a drivde to the basket, just play tight on the shooters to deny them space to operate.

the difference in quickness from the MVC to the American is exposing the Shox.
