  • Which college program has done the least with the most?

Sorry that I have asked this question without providing a researched answer. I am not nearly tech savvy enough to find what I think I need to answer this question with out a little help. If I use only the McDonald's All-American list since 1977 (or maybe the oldest basketball recruiting service....ESPN, SCOUT....?) could I find which major programs have had the most projected talent walk onto thier hardwood and then fail to live up to the projection? I have my suspicion but I don't want to post it without some research effort.

So, is there anyone out there that can point me to a site that might provide how highly rated that high school player was, and what University that player attended?

Maybe this idea has been done before and I just didn't see it. If so, my apologies. Thanks to all that can provide insight.

If you're just looking at the last few years I would say LSU.
Its a good landing if you can walk away, its a great landing if the plane can be reused the next day.

Somewhere South, for sure. One of those places that doesn't get 5* guys because the school is a destination, but gets guys that become 5* because they signed with that school. Like Texas.

I like that we all enjoyed your premise and offered guesses, but not actual help. Sorry, not sorry.

I hate the beakers as much as anyone, but what we're looking for here is teams that are oozing with talent that still can't make the tournament.

Pitt and LSU were very good guesses. I'd be interested to see how highly touted players from St. John's and even places like Virginia Tech have been as well.

I feel like schools like Wake Forest, Illinois, DePaul, Georgia, and Nebraska should be in the discussion. They recruit reasonably well because they're in M7 conferences, but God have they sucked (generally) in recent memory.

                          UNLV.

They always have the best athletes. Just ask them.
