Turgeon and Maryland almost seems like an odd fit. Something like Lon Kruger and UNLV.

Did A&M really show some apathy towards basketball? What was their attendance like? Turgeon and A&M seemed like a good match.

edit: Oops. I placed this in the wrong thread. OK, uhmm, I don't expect Marshall to leave for A&M

Marshall's not going anywhere. I get the feeling after all of the announcements he made (on the coach's show) and all of the recruiting he's done and is doing, he's not interested this time.

Of course I don't really know anything, but I just don't see it.

Besides, does he really want to follow Turgeon's path to another school? I think HCGM is too much of his 'own man' to entertain that.

I'm not worried. Turg's experience at aTm is an example of what happens to a BB coach at a FB school. The rope is short. Expectations are sky high. Fan support is ho-hum.

Win at aTm and a BB coach can't wait to get out of there. Lose and your career is over.

I think Marshall will wait for a school where BB is relevant.

I think the most interesting candidate I've seen tossed out is Tad Boyle...

If Turg was bothered by not being "big man on campus" at A&M, that would go double for Marshall.

              Or triple.

Also, A&M fans weren't fond of Mark pointing out their lack of fan support.

I really doubt they would enjoy Gregg's frankness. If they didn't care for Mark doing that, they would absolutely hate Coach Marshall.

I really don't think there is anything at all, not one iota to see here.

And to add one last thing, I believe we're going to be better than A&M next year anyway.

Did I just say that? :D

I'm worried less about this than I was about Turgeon to 0U.

                Nothing to see here.

Marshall doesnt need a&m, he is set up good here and when he is ready to move on a big 6 school in the southeast will be ready to take him.

He might not "need" TAM, but he might "need" or "want" a $500,000 raise and a job in a BCS conference where you don't have to win your conference tournament to even have a shot at the NCAA tournament. The NC State job was crap. The TAM job is in a much better situation.

It's not a "wrong direction". TAM has some of the best facilities in the nation, is in a BCS conference and has been to the NCAA tourny the last 5 straight years. TAM isn't a crap hole anymore in basketball terms and actually has a chance to win the Big 12 this coming year. I doubt Gregg is even very high on the list for TAM anyway. Probably a 6th or 7th option. I wouldn't be surprised if Ben Jacobson is in the running, probably higher than Gregg to tell you the truth.

I heard that Danny Ainge was on the top of the list of some of the big time A & M boys.
