It's not a "wrong direction". TAM has some of the best facilities in the nation, is in a BCS conference and has been to the NCAA tourny the last 5 straight years. TAM isn't a crap hole anymore in basketball terms and actually has a chance to win the Big 12 this coming year. I doubt Gregg is even very high on the list for TAM anyway. Probably a 6th or 7th option. I wouldn't be surprised if Ben Jacobson is in the running, probably higher than Gregg to tell you the truth.
But all that ish doesn't make College Station any closer to the Carolinas. It's still firmly planted in south central Texas.

      Hence, "wrong direction."
The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off.

Darrin Horn is not exactly setting the world on fire at South Carolina in his 3 years since leaving Western Kentucky.

He had a solid 1st year with, I assume, mostly inherited players going 21-10 (10-6 in the SEC).

        Year 2 at 15-16 (6-10) and Year 3 at 14-16 (5-11) have been somewhat of a struggle.

If Coach Horn continues this trend for another year or two I would anticipate that the Gamecocks will be heading to the coaching supermarket.

My guess is that 3G is quite aware of what's going on. He has a pretty sweet deal with the Shocks and he has the luxury of being able to be patient for what might be his shot at his dream job. (Assuming that is his dream job!)

Now, Horn's record at South Carolina is a bit worrisome. He might be gone after next season.. :(

This we do know. Most all D-1 marquee type head coaching jobs that present themselves, HCGM name will likely be in the mix. This opening does not concern me athough we know they have the bread to flaunt. I think our Coach will ignore this opening. Coach T. got out when the gettin was good. I hope we get to play his team next Season. It would be fun beating them. :poster_eo: :poster_toure:

I'm not worried, but A&M is set up to be a pretty good team next year if a good coach comes in and takes over. It could be a good catapult for a coach looking to make a quick jump even higher.

Has Marshall and Sexton ever came to an agreement on an extension and raise? I know they were discussing it, but never heard if anything was actually signed. Are they having a hard time coming to an agreement? Just curious.

Like I said, I'm not worried, but this is a better job (at least short term) than NC State. It's enough to at least cause someone to pause.

Not signed. Agreement in principle. Close to signing. Few details to work out.

It'd be nice if they could sign in the next couple of days. Get a nice little blurb on ESPN and extensions usually put coaching change rumors to rest.

Ok Gregg. Thanks for clearing that up. Just because a job isn't in two states, doesn't mean Gregg isn't going to consider going there if asked about it. I'm sure he'd consider going to UCLA if they asked. That's in the really wrong direction according to you guys.

do we need to start vetting our coaches through tthe A&M AD? This is ridiculous.
