    Well, not exactly Como era
and I know they tried it one year,
but I've always liked this with our arena being known as the Round House.

I like the war chant but I don't like the timing. I don't think it should be done until the game is in the deep freeze. I guess for the last few years, most home games have been over by the time the band played it. I would prefer that it not be done by the band until the last time out and if the game is still in doubt at the last time out then they should wait until the game is over. There is no reason they can't do it until after the game before they play the fight song.

I love the war chant....period. It's a great tune and our band rocks it. If we are going to stick to originals - let's get rid of the "we're gonna beat the hell outa you" chant too ( I love that one too).

It's meant to intimidate the opponent. I would play it towards the end of the game but it's really fine anywhere.

Also, we will have to get rid of the Dudley Do Right song that the band plays before the start of each half, because we 'stole' that from Michigan State a long time ago.

The people that complain that we stole the war chant are really pretty ignorant of how college athletics work. Really they're pretty ignorant of how the world works. Sports programs incorporate what works well for other programs into their own programs. Corporations do it, as well. In fact, in the business world they have a term for it. They call it 'best practices'. They look to other organizations to see what they're doing well. They call those best practices and incorporate it into their own business practices.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I believe “Happy Birthday to You” is now part of the public domain. BAM! No guilty conscience. :wink-new:

If I were King Rollo for a day, I’d bring back “We’re Not Gonna Take It”. That’s the ultimate bad azz chip on your shoulder, Play Angry tune. The timing perfectly coincided with the return of Shocker basketball.

What’s that you say ...... Play Angry is now passé? Never mind.

Was the #watchus promo phrase stolen from a redneck's last words "watch this" ?

I believe the proper redneck phrase is "hold my beer".

We were down by seven and I stood up (by myself) and noticed that four or five fans behind the bench followed suit. We made a bucket and the entire arena came alive. We need to cheer to encourage the bucket, before AND after.

Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare:
"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".

A physician called into a radio show and said:
"That's the definition of a stool sample."

This is all side manure. When it feels right, I stand up and yell or cheer (which occurs a lot). I pay enough that I won't worry about this. It's up to others, led by students, to organize imo.

I think part of the issue could be that the PA system is kept at such a relatively low volume (for a raucous MBB game) that the crowd inadvertently keeps to a lower volume themselves. You see this in lots of settings, actually, so it’s not a phenomenon unique to us. The real question is why do we keep the PA system at the basketball arena the equivalent of library quiet?

Believe it or not, there is a guy who draws a salary in the WSU AD to manage game-time atmosphere, and the only thing that comes to mind when I’m at games is why does this guy have a job. If there is something he has added to the atmosphere at CKA then it’s totally lost on me. “Nice work, if you can get it”, as it were.

None of this is anything more than an academic conversation though, because I can tell you the athletic department gives zero shits whatsoever to the game atmosphere at WSU. Anyone remember “thank you sir, may I have another” from animal house? Yep... that’s us fans at CKA.

Could be I suppose, but the beard worn by this individual would be an indication of a pretty terrible hormonal imbalance. Weird name for a chick too.

The whole conversation thread within his tweet was pretty good as well with somebody that once worked for the University of Arkansas. They mentioned that they had to battle the marketing team every now and again, but were given flexibility on when the promos could be overridden and the pep band would play on to keep the energy up when it was advantageous to do so like when they've started a run and the opposing team calls a timeout.

Of course bills have to be paid, but ultimately you'd think the teams success is going to result in more revenue, and anything that can be done to foster a hostile environment will pay dividends. This is something that most fans are unhappy with. Hopefully the athletic department will see this.

I’ve always wondered if us on SN we’re hyper-critical of this sort of stuff, but it looks like the feelings (that the atmosphere at CKA has slowly gone down the toilet due to choices out of the fans’ control) are wide-spread in the fanbase.

I would say that it looks like WSU has a legitimate problem on their hands, but that doesn’t change the reality the athletic department could not care less.

I miss the mid 2000’s. The place would bounce if we were down, and bounce harder if we were winning. Problem with winning is when people get used to it. Cameron indoor seems to be the best mix of winning and atmosphere. We should schedule a H&H so we can observe.
