I felt terrible but I couldn't hold back my laughter. One of my favorite half time moments ever.

Well, it is a message board. I guess the purpose of those are just to sit and stare at all the cool avatars everybody has until something sunshine worthy pops up.

Were you able to hear the God bless America performance up in KC?

Yes. I didn't notice the lights, but I noticed this.

Why do we do the Shocker player intros in the dark. I thought we had spotlight capabilities with the new lighting system. The Volleyball player intros are far superior.

My first chance to see the Shocks play this year on broadcast TV and I have to say I believe the new lighting isn't as bad, from my viewpoint FWIW, as others here have written. I've often thought the arena looked dark and lighting was uneven with the old lights. The game on CBS last night looked great and didn't find the glare to be all that troubling. I will also say the CBS production was top notch. The audio was really good and there were times when the announcers shut the hell up and let the crowd noise dominate. And, once again, the Roundhouse crowd was stupendous. Well done!

Last night was my first game to attend since Shocker Madness. I did not have a problem with glare From my vantage point.

They have made an adjustment in the lights. Helped it seemed in reducing some of the issue with glare.

They have also installed routers/repeaters all over Koch for WiFi. But they seem to have some technical issues they need to still work out with it. It would give really good speed, but then it would slow down till either it was unresponsive or it would disconnect you.

I had to painfully miss last night’s game for the Foo Fighters. But I was periodically score-checking on IBA’s brand spanking-new WiFi, which works wonderfully btw. Koch’s WiFi I couldn’t get to load worth ****.

Sounds like you got a great show in IBA as well. Hopefully you recorded the game and can watch tonight.

You bet I recorded it. I was too tired and my ears were still ringing last night so I'm checking it out tonight as we speak.

What kind of Shocker fan are you anyway? Pfft.

Internet inside Koch is improving. No issues loading GoShockers in the arena Monday, plus a couple other Google searches.

BTW, I honestly don't think the glare problem is as much from the lighting per se as it is with the high-gloss finish on the floor. Evidence the video ad boards on the front of the media and scorer's tables. The reflections from these are more highly pronounced to me than previously.

I love the feel of the arena now. Game production is still mid-major but the visual is great. DITCH THE IN-GAME PROMOTIONS, THEY REEK OF MVC.

I don't care much for the promotions either and usually able to ignore most. However, I don't know the monetary importance they represent to the athletic department and the +/- effect they have with the casual fan and those not as avid (or rabid) of fan as we on SN.

If a majority of those in attendance are OK with the promotions and/or those promotions provide a reasonable financial benefit to Shocker athletics, I'm perfectly good with them with one caveat. Please get them over quickly and have the band rev up the crowd before play starts again as often as possible.

Perhaps, as the season goes along, SN posters going to other AAC venues can let us know whether they, too, do these promotions (assuming they can even get the sponsors). We may find "they reek of AAC".

Definitely went the wrong direction with the intro "pump up" video.

Disorganized and embarrassing. Extremely cringe-worthy. About par for the course.
Totally agree with Fev. It is crazy that pregame videos for NIT level teams were better than the recent garbage they've put together. Given the quality of teams, and the quality of atmosphere, failing to create a video that maximizes the energy level in the building right before tip off is nearly inexcusable. That should be a routine highlight of each game from a fan experience perspective. Instead, I'm left rolling my eyes just waiting for it to be over and for the game to start.

I would like to see them turn up the volume on Don Hall’s mic as there are sometimes you can’t hear a word he is saying

Great. JH4P shows up for the first time in 6 months, and it's to agree with Fev about complaining about something.

The apocalypse is nigh! I just hope we get the natty first.

But seriously tho, not sure why the pregame video is bad this year, but it is.

What they need to do is hire an MC to host the promotions. That would give it more of a professional feel then just troting them out there and having Don Hall go through the motions.

Another thing that would be cool, would be a sideline reporter. Some young girl who dreams of making it to ESPN one day.

Hell, hire two kids out of the journo school or give them CO-OP credit for these two positions.

emcees are a total void of any entertainment value. The idea is not to lengthen the promotions, but to get them over with. No need to feed the ego of an emcee.
