The AAC is neither down (wut?), nor anywhere near 20X better than the MVC (not to say we aren't thrilled at the change).

    Factual post fail.

A WSU-less AAC is not 20x better than the MVC was last year, but the current makeup of the AAC vs the current makeup of the MVC might be like, 5x better.

edit: i think the AAC has more teams in the top 50 than the big 12

Furthermore, doesn't the National Champion always get voted #1?

Regardless of the source predicting us outside of the top 15 it's not unreasonable. Flying a little below
the radar can be a good thing and disrespect can be used as incentive. Personally, the most important
thing is how well we perform at the dance NOT where we are ranked going in. I for see a 7-8 loss
season with a 4-5 seed. If we are hitting on all cylinders at the dance we can be F4 again and who knows
what else. MM and AR will be big question marks.

I think that if you see that many losses our first year in the American we will again be considered a bubble team irregardless of a better conference. Cinncinati only had about 4 losses going in to the NCAA last year and only got a 6 seed. The *powers that be* would like nothing so well as a chance to again disrespect WSU.

The time for flying under the radar was 7 years ago. The time for taking and getting the respect deserved is now.

Seeing going into the tournament matters for tournament performance.

Final 4 teams and their seeding

              seeded 1-4: 83.3%
              seeded 5-8: 12.9%
              All others: 3.8%

I agree with your post 100%.

Having said that, WSU is one of the 3.8%, so that's fun.

What 7-8 games do you see the Shockers losing?

The Media's support for the Shockers has precluded IMO any chance that the Shockers can "fly a little below the radar" especially the fact that some analysts have projected the Shockers to be F4 and National Champion.

Responding to your request i think we lose one in Hawaii and one at Baylor or OSU. I think we lose
at Cincy and SMU on the road. Then there are about four more coin flip games at Houston, at Temple,
at UCONN and one of those Florida teams is tough. We lose two out of those four. That's six so far.
Then I think we lose a game we are not expected to lose to someone somewhere and a loss in
the finals of the post season tournament very possible. That is 7-8 total. In addition, I have concerns
about MM and AR who were both very important to our success last season. I hope we over achieve
and limit our losses to no more than five and we are playing our best ball at the dance.

Thanks for posting your thoughts; interesting that we share common ground on games that could prove problematic for the Shockers. We simply chose different outcomes - where you took a pessimistic pathway to 8 losses, I stayed with my "rose tinted" glasses and an optimistic pathway to only three losses.

Overachieve...we've got multiple national sources picking us to go to the final 4. I guess if we overachieve, we bring home those nets!!! Let's do this!!!

We share a common view regards games that could be problematic for the Shockers. But we differ significantly in our thoughts on the outcome of these games. You have chosen a more pessimistic (safer) view; while I have chosen to view the season via my rose tinted glasses with the Shockers losing only three of these games.

I'd take another 30-4 season before the dance. Probably a 2-3 seed with that.

Overachieve? I do't hink we have the Cavs or Warriors on the schedule, so it's going to be difficult to overachieve.

The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.
