    • I found it interesting that 4 hours ago this guy (who's somewhat reliable) stated A&M was still going to meet with Marshall.

      • Murray State's Billy Kennedy has emerged as the favorite to replace Mark Turgeon at Texas A&M, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.

"According to multiple sources, the Aggies had been looking at three candidates, in addition to considering current assistant Scott Spinelli.

But by Saturday morning, the Aggies were down to two choices outside of Spinelli, after Wichita State's Gregg Marshall rebuffed their interview request.

That left Northern Iowa's Ben Jacobson and Kennedy to interview during the weekend, according to multiple sources.

Marshall was approached Friday and was told he was one of three candidates, according to a source.

Marshall also has a seven-year rollover contract until 2013, meaning it would be difficult to pry him away from Wichita. Marshall, who came from Winthrop to replace Turgeon at Wichita State, makes a little more than $1 million a year. Texas A&M was offering between $1.3 million and $1.5 million a year, a source said.

Wichita State won the postseason NIT in March and is the favorite to win the Missouri Valley in 2012 and should be a borderline top 25 team to start the season. "

        • I thought if Marshall was offered in the neighborhood of 1.5 mil they could make a legitimate run at him

If Coach Marshall spun around, he would start to look like Coach Gillispie.

One of Coach Gillispie's more notable lies was "I am coming back."

A couple days later, he signed with Kentucky.

The timing on the A&M job is just poor for Coach Marshall. Plus, I am not even sure he would be interested in the Aggie job. I sure would not put it in the plum category.

The timing of this offer was what made it the most unlikely. Had this been out there for him a month or so ago, he may have listened, but I think he made up his mind that he was going to stay at WSU AND shove it down the BCS' throat every chance he gets!

I think a big difference between HCMT and HCGM is that MT always felt that his job was really difficult "at this level" and GM feels that he can win no matter what adversity he has to overcome.

              • I don't think ATM is the one for HCGM. Now if South Carolina comes open in the next couple of years, I will be worried then.

What's interesting about this is that just 3 days ago Murray State extended Billy Kennedy's contract for one year.

                              • Billy Kennedy has decided to leave Murray State and become the next coach at Texas A&M.

Seth Allen, a 6-foot-1 guard out of Fredericksburg Christian School (Md.) in the class of 2012, was being recruited by Spinelli and Turgeon to Texas A&M a month ago. But on Saturday, Allen committed to Maryland as Turgeon's first recruit.
