Interesting take...I suppose if you purely look at a specific 8 yr period maybe you get to this results, but sure seems like the spirit of a conference like this going forward would make more sense to have a team/program like WSU vs. SIU or UNI

Is that guy an SIU grad?
That program has fallen so far, lost much of its fan support, and doesn't have the resources to get rid of Lowery.
The author went back eight years to compile his median RPI. Try comparing the last three to the first five and see where they rank.
I'll give UNI the benefit of the doubt since they are only a year removed from the Sweet 16. Besides, if the Panthers fall into the abyss, every conference needs a bottom-feeder. ;)

At any rate I was kind've excited when I saw the premise of the article and league (especially given our discussions about Valley long-term viability) but was a little flabbergasted to not see the Shox on the proposed list...

interesting thing about including memphis, what is their RPI if you include the vacated games?
The media frequently ignores the fact that a coach's and/or a team's success is sometimes achieved via cheating. They ignore the cheating, and act as if it had no impact on the results.

Start talking privately with a select group of MVC AD's (CU plus MSU or UNI) while putting feelers out to the regional schools mentioned (Butler, Xavier, Dayton, Memphis). If there's sufficient interest in the concept, enough of those schools would be receptive, then they can reach out to the eastern schools.
Clearly, conference alignment is becoming increasingly less based on geography and more on athletic profile. The time for this idea has come!

I noticed the ommission of WSU & thought of it as a god thing. In the grand scheme of things, with this comnference, WSU moves onto something other than a mid-major league. FOr one thing, WSU's arena ranks higher than many on this list. Creighton might be relegated to the list as it doesn't play in its own arena.Phi Alpha

I don't know why I am not excited about a conference that extends all the way to the coastal states. I'd love to see us play George Mason or VCU every other year home/away series, but I like that our fans travel so well and would hate to see that dwindle due to the heavier travel. Maybe it wouldn't dwindle though.
For me a conference affiliation is better when you can hop in a car and drive and watch a game all in a single day.Kung Wu say, man who read woman like book, prefer braille!
