If the reason the Big 12 was looking to add members was to bolster its football resume, there is no way that adding Wichita State makes sense, even if we add football because we wouldn't have a football program that is even remotely strong enough to be considered a boost to the conferences football resume (nor would a school like MSU's football program).
If the Big 12 is looking to add a non-football member to the conference, WSU starts to make a lot of sense, both geographically and by the quality of programs across all the sports we participate in.
I have no idea if the Big 12 has any interest in doing either of these things, but non-football membership is the only scenario that even remotely is plausible.
