Sunday afternoon a source close to the VCU basketball program confirmed to me that Alden left a voicemail with Teague today.
Teague nor Smart has responded to Alden.
I have since confirmed through the same VCU source and a major college athletic director that North Carolina State is in hot pursuit of Smart, with the Wolfpack prepared to offer a more generous financial package that what Missouri was likely to propose to the VCU coach.
Mizzou is not going to get Shaka Smart. They will get a fallback hire and I don't think (knock on wood) that it would be Marshall. Ben Jacobsen is getting more air time than Marshall and nobody wants Northern Iowa's0 style of play in Columbia...

I hope that Ben Jacobsen understands that he is where he needs to be. It would be to the benefit of Ben and the Valley for him to stay at UNI. That's a good fit for him.
Where oh where is our T. Boone Pickens.

I think Ben Jacobson understands he is under paid and UNI is not a long term solution.

If Marshall left he would be my #1 choice (though I'm sure Elgin wouldn't allow that).

          What's Marshall doing in Dallas?
          Oops. Did mean Houston.

          • Mizzou should have looked at Jacobsen by now. He has beaten KU...that should be at the top of their list when looking for a coach.

I'm sorry, Ben Jacobsen would be your #1 choice, did I understand that correctly?

Agreed. After all the slamming SB does of UNI, he wants a potential future coach to be him as his first choice?

                Deuces Valley.
                ... No really, deuces.

                • Rumor is that Univ. of Miami coach Frank Haith is a very possible candidate for the Mizzou job. The dust may not settle and help everyone feel better for a while.

Wow. That would be the sucky hire to end all sucky hires. I would immediately be cool with starting a 2 for 1 with them because I feel confident we would still sweep it.

Take it for what it's worth....don't know anything about who is reporting this....

Could be. They say Frank loves Florida.

                            • Now this is how you fraudulently edit a wikipedia page...

Frank Haith (born November 3, 1965 in Queens, New York) is the current head men's basketball coach at the University of Missouri, as reported by reputable sources such as Bernie, Twitter, and Tigerboard (1970s college message board, that is continually overloaded, I mean, seriously, do those people not know of a thing called a software update?). The NIT melts in fear at the name of Haith.

                              • Seems like the Haith rumor is picking up some steam....could it be???
