Though looking at the resumes of some that make it makes me wonder if we could ever build a resume that would over shadow the BCS biasI have come here to chew bubblegum and kickass ... and I'm all out of bubblegum.

The only hope the Trees have is if they "Evansville" the Orange. (Refer to UNI, WSU and UE in 2010 if you don't understand that sentence.)The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

I don't think many of us expect changes by the MVC. It's on us. The real key is continual upgrade in recruiting. I suggest upgrading the schedule by whatever means possible, do the best we can at winning those game to attract more and more exposure on TV, media and hopefully someday in the rankings and dance. Quality recruits want to play for nationally recognized good teams that dance deep.In the fast lane

It's like a lotto ticket, unless you buy one you have zero chances of winning. Somehow, we need to come up with about 7-10 tickets to have any chance at all. We further need to stratch on more than half of them.
Every sports news commentater, broadcaster, and reporter,I've listened to or read, has constantly pointed out that it's who you beat that matters. Unless you win your conference, which seems to be an impossibility for a certain school we need not mention, you have to beat the majority of the top 50 and 100 teams you play.
Our AD and coach appear to still believe that it is more advantageous to win 20 games and they can accomplish this most years by scheduling four to six cream puffs. They can continue to do this till the NCAA votes come in, and we will remain very unlikely to get invited to the dance.
I am sympathetic with and totally understand the need to protect one's job, but there has to be a happy medium here as well. Royal has mentioned reducing the cream puffs to no more than two. This certainly would be an improvement. This year we got hurt because LSU, Tulsa, and Virginia had down years. This is just another reason to schedule a few more games to cover years like this.
Needless to say, if we were in a conference, that consistently had at least three to six schools that consistently fell in this range, we would not have the problem we do.

The problem is that we can't do it totally on our own. 21 games a year (counting the Valley tourney) are against our conference foes. Like it or not are fate is at least somewhat tied together.
If the conference won't even try to return to their past levels, then I really think we should start looking at other options.

I agree completely, but someone has to want us as well. Therein lies a lot of the problem.

If we haven't built our own team strong enough to completely dominate a weak conference, how can we complain about the conference being weak? We need to look in the mirror and focus on our own team's issues first, then the rest follows.Kung Wu say, man who read woman like book, prefer braille!
