Not to be rude, but this discussion is way above most people's pay grade.

He has won 49 games in two years. That is more than good enough. Besides they might think they can get him a little cheaper than if he had made a ncaa tournament run.

Good points. I guess I should re-phrase to say I could see them being interested, just don't think they will be.

Count me in the boat of those that think WSU's coach in 2011-12 will be the same guy as it was in 2010-11. Just my $0.02, which is $0.01 more than its probably worth.

I hope you are right. The prospect of a new coach next year scares me a lot. But I am just afraid that someone from a multi-bid conference will offer Marshall a job and he will take it.

It is unlikely any BCS school will let money get in the way of hiring the coach they want.

I imagine every BCS school has graduates, who became wealthy. Some schools have more wealthy alums than others.

Money will not be an issue. Performance will be the issue.

As I have said twice recently and I say again, I dread AD Sexton being in charge of hiring the new coach. He just does not have the experience or connections, which are essential. As everybody knows, the coach profession is all about relationships.

                Bingo!

RDR hits it square on the head.

The thought of ABC's favorite AD searching and then ultimately making the decision on the next coach to lead this program scares me more than Government controlled heath care.

I'm sure the hired would be a good person with a nice smile, but it really is all about connections (and knowing the right person to choose).

HCGM made some poor coaching decisions Saturday (I'll get into that later) but he still knows what he is doing.

If he leaves and ADES starts searching... oh boy.

A scary, scary thought indeed. 8)
Above all, make the right call.

Please Doc, be as rude as you want. This is all so premature. If Marshall leaves, he leaves. I personally hope he stays. Talk about unfinished business ---

This quote about Lowe made me laugh though:
He’s recruited well, but on-the-court, the results have been underwhelming.
Sounds like Marshall would be a great replacement.
Are you kidding? Marshall will take ANY job offered him from a multi-bid conference.

I don't think there is any way he will be our coach next year. He does NOT want to coach in a one bid conference and the Valley has clearly cemented itself as a one bid wonder.
The MVC is definitely that, and that was a criteria for him accepting the job... Something tells me Elgin will get a wakeup call this weekend....
I wouldn't be surprised to see GM jump ship. And I wouldn't be surprised to hear him use our one bid conference as an excuse, even though he helped make it a one bid conference.

Very true, Doc -- especially 1989, who seems to be channeling Nostradamus these days (and not doing a very thoughtful job of it). Some folks need to get back on their meds.

Nails. I hadn't thought of it that way, but it is WSU, over the last two years, that didn't get that second bid. Of course, if MSU slips in, then that makes the point even bigger, given that WSU was picked to win both the regular season and auto bid this year, either of which may/would have gotten them in.
