With all the talk, me included, about the coaching quality of HCGM over the course of the year, let me pose this question...
Rank the top-5 coaches in the Valley. I know many are down on Marshall, but consider all that a coach brings to the table; recruiting, preperation, game coaching, late game strategy, etc...
Here is mine:
1. Ben Jacobson - Try doing what he has done in Cedar Falls, America.
2. Greg Lansing - It would have been too easy to put him at 1...finish in the top 3 next year and we'll see.
3. Cuonzo Martin - Would have been higher if he would have won the "big one," but has done a nice job in Hillbilly-ville
4. Jim Les - Just kidding!!!
4. Gregg Marshall - A solid, not great, recruiter, high energy, but question some in-game philosophies and decisions.
5. Greg McDermott - A proven coach in this league, appeared in 3 straight NCAA's with UNI in mid-2000's.
Honorable Mention:
Marty Simmons - If he gets just a bit more talent, could pull an Indiana St.
