How many years would we have loved to be 24-8 and finish one game back in the league.
Anybody remember play-in games?
How about playing teams at UConn's level and, instead of leading until the last minute or two, never getting within 15 points after halftime.
Remember being in our house and getting run out of the gym - not losing by 3 to SMS, SIU, or UNI or by 1 to VCU but a real thumping where we were never in the game?
Remember being undefeated @ home last year before the NIT?
Remember looking at our opponents and wishing we had exciting athletes like they did?
Remember wishing we had a coach that could keep us out of the play-in games?
Was our coach perfect this year? NOPE
Were our expectations a little high this year, especially after losing Clevin? YEP
Is he still a great coach for WSU? YEP
Let's let him have a couple of years where he is in the bottom 1/2 of the league before we call for his head. Feel free to vent about bad coaching decisions, bonehead player mistakes, the refs, etc. but don't kill the Gggoose because it laid a silver egg and you wanted a gold one. Silver ones beat rotten eggs everytime and you may still end up with some gold ones.
I don't want to wait another 3 or 4 years while a new coach rebuilds the program to where it is now, IF a new coach could - Cohen, Thompson, and Smithson sure couldn't.
My inclination would be to see how the post season goes and extend his contract if he wins a game or two. I'd love for HCGM to win 20+ games for us for the next 15 years or so.
Good post, I remember all of those games and a few more ugly ones.
You can bet 3G and Chris Jans will be living at the Juco tourney next week.

I disagree with a lot Marshall does BUT, this group of players are/were weak-kneed. Toure was horrible this year, JT was all over the map, Hatch couldn't be counted on to consistently score, Kyles was too streaky... they just sucked for the last month. They played with little heart and little passion. We need some fresh faces on the floor.

That's another problem, don't be signing kids just by seeing them play a good game.[/quote]
They don't offer players scholarships just because they saw them play a good game. They have been looking and talking with different players for months and they just happen to be playing in a big tournament close to home next week.
A lot of people like/liked Jim Schaus. Let's think back to 2006. Schaus told Tad Boyle that he would not be considered for the head coaching position when Turgeon left. Boyle took over the HC position at Northern Colorado and now is the head coach at Colorado. Schaus already had his eye on Marshall.
Boyle will soon be a Pac 10 (Pac 12?) head coach. How different would WSU's "x's & o's coaching" have been with Boyle rather than with Marshall?
Some posts are not visible to me. :peaceful: Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

Wasn't Marshall actually Schaus 2nd choice and Sutton his first?
We got back from St. Louis this afternoon. My wife ask me why I didn't jump on SN when we got home. Well, because I knew there would be something like this on here. Oh well, back into the fray.
