I've noticed some teams that seem to be very disciplined at running what the coaches want them to run. I've noticed WSU playing out of control late in the season.

The disciplined teams are beating the out of control team.

Next year is Marshall's first year of working with only his own recruits. Next year is looking like a down year. And that's after everyone more or less agreed that the cupboard was pretty bare after Turgeon's last recruiting class didn't show up.

Murry seemed yo have a lot of basketball IQ when he arrived here. More then than now. Murry was a great all-around player when he got here. More so then than now.

Kyles is a super-athlete with a deadly shooting touch. He didn't seem to have much basketball IQ when he got here. Still doesn't and doesn't seem to have progressed much in 3 years, except for the first 1/2 of this season. then he regressed to his former status.

More and more coaches figured out precisely how to take WSU out of its offense by sagging off the shooters just enough to clog up the passing lanes to the inside game. Then the Shox kept running minor variations on the same play over and over and it never worked. Finally someone on the outside was open or desperate and jacked up an ugly 3.

Smith may not be as effective next year. Now that other teams have seen him, they will guard him more closely.

Part of recruiting is finding players who are intelligent enough and disciplined enough to learn the coaches system. Marshall loves long, athletic players like Manigault. He loves strong, physical players like Hamilton. I think sometimes his love of a body style overcomes his judgement of talent. I don't think Marshall would have even scouted Braeuer, let alone offer him a scholarship.

Marshll loves combo guards. Then he seems to like to (actually, he has no choice but to) experiment with turning them into D1 PG's. FAIL!

Coaches recruit the players, design the game plan, and scout the other teams. Then it's the coaches responsibility to convince the players he recruited to play the game and game plan he devised.

A failure in any of those areas indicates a failure on the coaching staff.

I put this entire season on the coaching staff. It was a "nice" year, but Marshall sold his soul to the devil to get out of Wichita. JuCos are just a quick fix. One and a half years of productivity doesn't build stability.

The Jr and Sr classes this year are artificially and unsustainably loaded up. If WSU makes a national run with the lopsided roster (instead of developing younger replacements), Marshall gets BCS offers and may be gone. When a team full of Jr's and Sr's gets beat by a non-Burger Boy Fr on a traditionally weak program, that's coaching.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

I still want to know why the hell Marshall didn't come out and talk with Mike Kennedy on the post game? I wanted to hear what he had to say after that lame ass coaching performance.

I listened to the first half last night, and then had to go to dinner. I get back, read texts on my cell phone and find out they lost by 7. If CGM simply refused to speak to Kennedy after the game….that says something to me and it is not positive. I respected Marshall but… :(

I don't like when coaches don't go to the postgame show. It's happened before, with both Marshall and Turg.

I don't like that we were picked first and are NIT bound.

                I don't like that we took 29 three's.

I don't like that we have so many JUCO players.

Fact of the matter is, that list could be really long, and I'm already depressed writing those things. This season was a disappointment. No question. But the program is still at a very good place. I don't want to settle for the NIT every year more than anyone else. It gets old. I'm tired of it, yes. But I see a lot of similarities to the 2005 team here. Maybe the 2011-12 team will end up like the 05-06 team. I doubt it, but maybe.

We shouldn't fire Marshall, I feel like he kind of thought we would run away with this league this season, maybe he was a bit over confident. Of all things Marshall is, I don't think he is dumb. He will learn from this season. I still think he's a coach that can lead us back to the NCAA. Look at what he did with his turn-around job. We could have very easily fallen back to the 90's with what Turg left us. Judging by how last years and this years team played, maybe it will be better with us not being picked first and all that jazz.

                Those are my ramblings.

                Go Tree's

                Go Shox.

But if CGM won't face a homer like MK - what message does that send to his players?

Everyone keeps saying not to worry, that coach will learn from this season. Really? Like he learned game after game down the stretch................I am so not buying it.

Somebody posted that Marshall was late getting out of the press room so Kennedy had to go ahead and close the show without Marshall. I guess there are many on this board that didn't read that or don't believe it.

Yet that is who he plays every game all game. I was at the MO State game in Springfield and I told my wife 5 mins in the game that his lineups are not right. You cant sub five guys at a time, they cant get into a groove. Ready for these senors to be escorted!!!
I agree. The bench should have been starting and the starters should have been benched. But Marshall is headstrong and stubborn and that is costing him.

I'm not saying Marshall should be fired immediately. But you can't totally dismiss the fact that alot of this is on the coaching. Now matter how you spin it.

We also shouldn't act like there aren't good replacements out there ready to be had. Could we do worse? Absolutely. Could we do better? Very possible. Firing a head coach that has improved in most years since he has been here would be crazy. But he shouldn't have a huge leash and praised as the 2nd coming either. This could be his plateu when it comes to success. Time will tell.
"He called me around noon and was thrilled," Brandt said. "He said he was going to be a Shocker forever." -- RIP Guy, you WILL indeed be a Shocker forever!

The MVC Tournament forces coaches to go to the press conference room directly after the game completes. Winning coach first, so Triple G had to wait for Lansing to finish. I stopped listening, but did the radio broadcast end early to send it to Shane and the baseball broadcast? This, coupled with the MVC press conference rules, could have been the reason why he didn't talk on the radio.

                              I'm just guessing here.

Wow. One under achieving year and we're already looking for replacements. We sure do think highly of ourselves here at Wichita State. Us and our 1 Final Four in the history of the program.

This thread makes me ashamed to be a Shocker fan. I'm not happy the way the season ended either, but I'm not going to call for the guys job.
