I'll give 3G a pass on not coming out. We're devastated with the loss and the effort as fans. 3G is no doubt just as frustrated and disappointed as the fans, probably more so.
If it was his last and only opportunity to talk about the game that is one thing. But he will have his coach's show on Monday and we'll see what he has to say.
I doubt that anything he would say today or will say on Monday is going to make me feel any better about today's game.
I'm torn because I totally understand what you're saying, but part of me wonders why coach doesn't actually COACH like he's pissed or that the season is on the line. He seems like an NBA coach who stands there and lets the game just happen.
It seems like he's mellowed a lot since his first couple of years here. Those first 2 years, whenever he did the post game interview with Mike Kennedy after a loss, he really seemed upset.
Now he doesn't seem like that anymore. Maybe he's better at holding in his feeling now.
Or maybe he's more concerned with looking for other jobs..
The coaching has really been mind-blowing this year. We had the talent to sweep through the Valley and win in March. The coach left a lot to be desired with.
I'm frankly getting tired of it.
How the hell could you not "get up" with an NCAA berth on the line?
Deuces Valley.
... No really, deuces.

The same way the players couldn't "get up" with 10,000+ screaming fans at Koch. Some players just can't get motivated and the Shockers have several of them.
Considering what Marshall did at Winthrop, I think he has proven that he can motivate players that are capable of being motivated.
I don't think it's a matter of motivating players or even coaches pushing the right buttons. Some players just can't get it done during crunch time no matter how much they may want to. I'm starting to reevaluate the talent left over on this team.
I was thinking that we were going to show other schools how Shocker fans were different and support our team no matter how bad we think they are. But from what I've been reading on here, that might not be the case. It sounds like we are no different than any other school's fans.
I guess we'll see who the real Shocker supporter are come NIT time.
Yep, we'll see.
You guys amaze me. Just what do you thing the Shocker fan base did for 12-13 years until MT started having some success.
There weren't message boards like this all those years ago where everyone vented every last thing that went across their brain.
I hope its a road game.....I for one would hate to see the dismal showing for an NIT game. Plus....and the big PLUS is we play better on the road anwyay
That road game mastery is long gone people...remember last Saturday...and oh by the way last night.

I don't think it has anything to do with motivation. These players are as motivated as anyone. It comes down to special players on special teams make the plays that define them as special. Unfortunatley, this team (I'm speaking on the floor...they are fine young men) doesn't have special in their basketball DNA. I don't fault them for it...it just is. Like others, I am disappointed in the in-game strategy adjustments, or lack there of, with coach Marshall. Maybe he isn't that "special" coach we all thought we were getting. The jury is still out for me.
I know next year has been talked about on another thread, but I think we will know alot more about Marshal's ability to recruit and coach next year. I believe...and I hope I'm wrong, that next year will be a down year. Whether the arrow is pointing up at the end of the season depends on the recruiting class Coach is bringing in... At the end of next season, if the arrow is up...cool. If the arrow looks like it is pointing down...the heat will begin to turn up a bit over the following year.
In the latest NIT bracketology we are an 8th seed. That's a last seed. We don’t appear to be a lock. Are there other post season tournaments this year?
I don't see how we are anything but a lock for the NIT.
That's what I thought too until I looked at the bracketology.
With SWOMO losing we might NOT get an NIT bid. As regular season champs SWOMO is guaranteed a NIT bid if they don't get an at large bid.
The new NIT owned by the NCAA might NOT take 2 teams from the Valley this year. VCU got snubbed last year after losing in the CAA tourney.
I don't think the NIT is a lock at all. I think are chances are probably about 50/50.

Fever- I think unfortunately that is where Marshall's head has been lately.
