  • Can the Shocks do the Lew?

We finally made it to the finals last Season, but never have won 3 at the Lew. Maybe all of our expectations were too high for our beloved Shocks here on SN for this Season? Not according to the experts. We were predominately picked to win the Valley this Season according to the experts. In my case,( far from an expert) I picked us to win the Valley but with 4 losses. Nope!!! That prediction was a half-truth.

Thus, can we 'save face' and win 3 in a row and dance? If so, will we then feel this team made progress and had a solid and successful Season? Who do you think will win the Lew? How many games will the Shocks win with this dream bracket? I strongly believe that Mo State will NOT win it. Discuss.
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

      Here's how I think it'll shake out:

We'll easily win our first two games. Destroying our opposition by so much that the walk-on's will get minutes.

Then the Championship game will arrive. We'll play either Creighton or MoState and due to our previous two games, we'll be the favorite despite the seed. We'll then proceed to shoot 35% and have 15+ turnovers. We'll be down by 8 at the half and finally lose by only 3 points. We won't even get a last second shot off.

Summary: We'll do great in our first two games, then decide to not "show up" for the Championship game.

Or..."the Creighton Whistle" shows up and we have to beat 8 instead of 5.

If we do indeed make the finals, we need our beloved Shocks to do some soul searching, and "find the X-Mancometh" mentality within, and get this 'Lew monkey' off our back and finish this Season with some MTXE. Mo State had never won the Mo Valley until this Season. The Shocks were 7-8 in the win column "on the Valley road again" which was a first. Thus, would a neutral sight be an issue for us? There are many roads that lead to the Dance. In our case, the road goes through I-70 to St. Lou, Lewey. No more wake up calls. This could still be a special Season to remember. Does THIS Shocker team have the spunk to pull this off?

I agree. But I have an unfunny feeling we won't either.

I agree, its easy to win with no depth when you only play once every 3 or 4 days, but when you have to win 3 in 3 days then its alot tougher

Years past, I would have agreed with you. Not this year. I think we are going the distance.

Anyone in particular that won't get the last second shot off?

I kind of hate to say it, but I too think this could be the year, and I NEVER think we'll win. I didn't think we'd win in '06, much less last year.

I expect the guys to win....I'm more than cognizant of the pitfalls and the inconsistency of this team, but I just expect the Shocks to win. The semi final game (if we get there) will provide the toughest test I think.

I really want to leave St. Louis a happy Shocker fan, for more reasons than one.

MSU will make it to the final game, and we will face them again. Will Marshall FINALLY figure out how to get the ball inside to Durley so he can score??? or so Durley can feed it to Gabe to score? If not, it will be the third excruiating game to watch as MSU beats us a third time the same way as the first 2.

Are we tough enough to win 3 games in a row in 3 days? That is the real question!!!!!

If the team that showed up in St Louis last year decides to make a return appearance, we'll win going away. Forget the last 10 minutes of the Championship game, there's not going to be anybody there that was on the roll UNI had.

You'll of course note that I started the first sentence with "IF".

You know what though, I'm feeling pretty good about being able to escort my bride onto the floor at Scottrade and do some long overdue celebrating.
Where oh where is our T. Boone Pickens.

It's time for Joe Ragland to step up and lead. And I mean handle, distrubute and shoot the ball like this is his team. Murry and Kyles don't have what it takes to lead. Hatch is too quiet; Durley shouldn't have to. It's Joe's time to look the players in the eye and start playing Dr. Phil and traffic cop all at the same time and will this team to win...period.

I am sick and tired of this team playing in big games with such lack of urgency and tenacity. Leave Stay Puff Marshmallow man in the locker room and play like you had crushed glass and nails for the pre-game meal. See you all in the Lou.
