KSU ran away from a scrimmage this fall. Who retreated faster, the team as a whole, or the individual players?

I might be wrong here, but I believe if you scrimmage another D-1 school before the season starts, it takes away one of your exhibition games. Perhaps Frank felt his team would be better off destroying Washburn instead of being somewhat tested against us in a scrimmage. Or, perhaps the higher powers told him to cancel it so they could get extra ticket money. Or (probably the most likely thing) is that I'm completely wrong here and KSU just backed out because Kelly and Pullen were too busy getting free stuff at JC Penny's.

For what it's worth, I feel that if this game comes to fruition, that WSU should never, ever play at the IBA again.

I take the concept of a Division-One regular season contest being played in Wichita that does not include the Shox a direct "slap-in-the-face" move of disrespect to the school and athletics program. Furthermore, this "slap-in-the-face" involves one of the two in-state institutions that currently refuses to play WSU.

Not that my analogy is an exact replica, but could you imagine Texas playing Arkansas in College Station and the A&M fans take it lying down?

Allowing this to happen (or at least allowing it to happen without making a collective extreme displeasure of the athletic department/fans known) makes us look a lot more UMKC-ish than the Gonzaga-ish or Major Program we hope our school to be.

My opinion and general feeling is that both KU and KSU have the upmost respect for the Wichita St. basketball program. Hence their chickens##t behavior in not scheduling the Shockers. At least that's my take.
