I am surprised by the Elgin support on this board but it doesn't change my mind. Again, I think 22 years in this position is too long if for no other reason.
I think the stature of the Valley in sports, (mainly basketball) and it's certainly the driver, has been diminished over this period of time. We have gone from significant to insignificant during that period.
If conference basketball conditions were improving...it would be apparent in both media coverage and quality of teams. If conditions were improving the Valley would be touting it as much as possible. They obviously aren't. So either they have nothing to tout or they are failing to promote the improvement. Which of the two do you think it is?
I just think that conference basketball and baseball have been trending downward over the course of the last several years. I don't think that Elgin is the right guy to turn it around. I do think Jim Shaus could do it though.
