I want Triple G.
Griping aside about some coaching decisions in close losses, our team is athletic, plays hard, and usually pretty damn fun to watch. We have good kids that seem to, for the most part, conduct themselves in a way that is favorable in the community. Yes, we have not reached the dance under him yet, and while our window grows smaller next year, I feel our talent will still be superior to the rest of the league 1-10 and we will eventually win that stupid tournament.
That being said, how much does he want to be our coach? The Valley is a one bid and appears to be so for at least the next year and maybe two, based on returning talent. To think of a 2006 Bradley team that finished fifth with the likes of Sommerville, Bennett, Wright, O'Brien and Ruffin and compare them to the talent of the teams in the league now is mind boggling. Do you think the Valley of 2006 is what he bargained on when he made the move from the state he grew to love and call his own?
Coaches want to win NCAA championships and they want the best opportunity to do so, which means being one of the top 11 in the Big East or top seven in the SEC under the garbage system we have now. Triple G is no different. The money is better here obviously than Winthrop, but where really is his easier road to dance?
So, if by some miracle, we leave the Valley for greener pastures this off season or the NCAA expands to 96 teams, I would not be surprised if he stayed. Otherwise, I would not be surprised if he is shopping.
