There are many different kinds of coaches out there playing all kinds of styles and using a variety of strategies. There are no right answers to these questions. Coaches of all types have experience both success and failure. What would be your preference?
1) Do you want the pure X and O coach that has total control of every situation or do you want a coach that gives players a certain amount of freedom and expects them to make good decisions understanding that won‘t always happen?
2) Do you want a coach that’s going to play a higher pressure, higher risk defense or one who prefers the softer, sagging, make the other team work defense?
3) Do you want a coach that’s going to recruit for the immediate future using transfers and jucos to address obvious holes or do you want a coach who predominantly recruits high schoolers betting on long term stability and development?
4) Do you want a coach that typically scores big and wins big with a few close losses or do you want a coach that plays a slower type of ball resulting in tighter scores but has a stellar record in close games?
5) Do you want a coach who wears his emotions on his sleeve occasionally offending someone or one who is more staid and politically correct when addressing players, fans and media?
6) Do you want a coach with aspirations to continually improve his situation or a coach that’s looking more for stability and comfort at whatever level that might be?
