    Band,
You forgot top flight officials too.

It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt. We've got people calling for HCGM to be fired. I'd classify that as "someone could get hurt..."
Deep in the heart of couldn't give a crap about college basketball-land and I miss the SHOX.

It is not like Marshall just got here. He's pretty much had his chance to take his time and build and develop, but can anybody look to the future and think WSU is going to be stronger in the next year? Next two years? he MVC is only going to get stronger.

Remember when SN was laughing at MSU fans imploding after their Evansville loss. I'll bet they're the ones laughing now.

It was a very painful loss that can be laid on everyone from the coaches to the players. I can find no excuses for what happened last night. We didn't take care of business and now it's all become very clear, win or go home.

And by the way, no one's going to fire Gregg Marshall.

Also, depth doesn't matter in the Valley. Nobody plays an uptemp style offense so nobody gets that tired. All you need is 7 guys and you're golden.
            8%?

Gawd, I am even more sick.

8%? How in the h*ll does a team shoot 8%?

            H*ll, I can shoot 8%.

In case someone is wondering, 8% is equivalant to 2-25 shot making.

                In the 2nd half we shot 29.6% FG (8-27), 18.2% 3FG (2-11), and 80% FT (8-10), so I don't know where the 8% is coming from.

Here is something about Marshall and North Carolina State.

Musings at the midweek: • Just when Bill Snyder seemed as adept as any coach in the Big 12 at taking in Division I transfers, Fred Hoiberg began his makeover for Iowa State basketball. • With the…

                      • Mark Turgeon will battle “the best assistant I’ve ever had,” when he takes Texas A&M to Colorado for a matchup Wednesday against Tad Boyle.

                      • The last place they coached together was Wichita State, which is pointed toward the NCAA Tournament.

                      • That, of course, has the rumor mill churning regarding the North Carolina State job and Shockers coach Gregg Marshall as a potential fit.

I agree with you assessment. And with the Omaha media openly commenting (all be it in blogs) that Marshall (assuming through his agent) is really trying to get his name out for BCS jobs reinforces it.

I think were about to find out if our ADES has what it takes to be an AD.[/quote]

All be it on blogs or not, let's go ahead and believe anything the Omaha media says about the WSU program!

                          Maybe a G2 bottle or 2.

My days following Coach Fogler taught me to "rate" shot selection. Coach Fogler would routinely halt play, and ask someone to rate the shot they just took on a scale from 1 to 5. You had to take into account things like where you were in the possession, what was your strength, did you shoot it in rhythm, was there someone more open etc etc.

This team had a little habit of taking shots I would rate 2 or 3 at best. The last 2 games were chock full of 4s and 5s.

Of the 53 shots we took last night, I bet there weren't five 5s. I'll watch the replay sometime, but that is on the coaches. I understand players play, and everyone gets to wear some of this debacle, but there was an article just yesterday on letting shooters shoot and when I read the article I said to myself "You know, this shows on the court as we have taken an increasing amount of what I would call bad shots as the year goes on...some of those go in (no no no no good shot) but they aren't helping the long term product.

Bottom line, we've been taking an increasing number of out of synch, off balance, forced, quick, out of position, not at our strength and without confidence shots lately, while probably making more than our fair share and last night I guess the bad shots got even.

I saw it coming (not the loss to SIU but the offensive disaster) and anyone worth their salt could see it as well.

Just curious, why are all these rumours about Gregg just now surfacing, the morning after a devastating loss? Wouldn't this info been available previously? Did all this inside information come to light overnight? I don't recall seeing anything in other threads recently.

                                Good assessment, Doc.

Personally, I don't think this team has played like champions all season and when I say team, I mean coaches as well. This team was picked to win the Valley and was probably odds on favorites to win the Valley Tournament. Anything less would, once again, be under achieving. A lot of people on SN (I'm guilty, too) have talked, talked, and talked about the Shocks' at-large possibilities. It seems as if maybe the team believed this level of play was good enough as well.

This was to be WSU's year with experience and depth (and a weaker Valley). We are 20-5 at this point....may I point out we were also 20-5 at one point last year as well. We point to our great play on the road. Well, that road record was made up of the bottom 6 in a weaker Valley. We now face the 3 other top teams on the road. Last year we held our home court to only see us drop 3 games at home this year with VCU and CU coming to town. We squeeked by a barely top 100 RPI Tulsa at home and "whipped" a sub 200 RPI LSU by 1 point. They have nothing they were not expected to do and barely did that.

Well, that better change. They desperately need to play like champions. If not, the out come of this season will not be pretty. Dig In Shox!! We're still behind you and always will be.

                                :wsu_posters:
