The players own this loss. I wish we would foul sooner during the last minute or so of the game and extend the game, but other than that coach tried really hard. It seems to be a WSU to lose inexplicable games down the stretch...

Give me a freakin' break. If GM has to kick the players in the arse with the season 75 percent over with then this team has issues. Everyone preaches how EXPERIENCED this team is and how it will pay dividends. Well fellas, this EXPERIENCED team shouldn't need daddy to swat their behinds and yell at them in order to get er' done.
Shouldn't they be able to do that THEMSELVES? They ARE going to school for free to do it. Players shouldn't need a freaking pep talk to get them in the mood to play great whenever they put on their game shoes. They should WANT to go out there and play great. They should WANT to go out on their home floor and make their opponent wish they had stayed home.
But they didn't want to do that tonight. They either didn't want to be there tonight, or felt like it was an easy win so they could coast. I doubt Phil freaking Jackson could have gotten this team to win tonight. They played that poorly and with absolutely no pride or heart. I hate to reference him here because I can't stand him, but you didn't need to pep talk Tim Tebow to get him ready for a game. He shows up ready.

HCGM is not the best bench coach I have seen, and he gets outcoached particularly in our 3 home losses this season. This better be the final wakeup call to him to toughen up this team, and have them ready to play EVERY game.

Do you honestly think the Shox never entertained the idea of what is at stake for the remainder of the season. Do you mean to tell me that Gabe and JT had no clue that in order to make the NCAA's would be not to have a bad loss on their resume'? Do you mean to tell me that Toure and David never thought that in order to stay in first place in the MVC that they would need a win tonight?
Gimme a freakin' break. The Shox know exactly what they need to do, what is at stake and what can potentially happen if they screw it up. So don't go blaming GM that he didn't prepare the team tonight. I am willing to bet dollars to pesos that the halftime speech was animated and full of expletives. I seriously doubt GM was sipping a latte' in the pre-game locker room and telling the boys to start thinking about the NCAA's.
The players FAILED and they FAILED the fans.
I'm not saying the players get a pass. But they aren't the ones making 750k to figure out what works and what doesn't during a given game.

HCGM lost this game. POOR POOR coaching. Hatch should not have been on Fay! AE and Blair should have been.
Brightside atlleast I can save money by not going to St. Louis. I'm not wasting my money on a team that loses to SIU with a coach that is too stubborn to make simple adjustments.

You think Jamie Dixon has to pep talk his team to get them tough? Get them ready to play? Jamie Dixon's players show up ready. They show up to win. That's why they're at Pitt and not Wichita State. They worked as hard as they could to be as great at basketball as they can possibly be so they could go to a power school like Pitt. They don't slack off half the time and never hit their potential in half the games like a certain Wichita State post player. They also don't show up to sleep walk through an easy game. They show up to win every single night.

I'm horrible and one time I scored 25 points in a game in high school. Most of the time I could barely shoot 8% from the field. How do you explain that?

Originally posted by KC ShoxThis loss has little to do with coaching, this loss is on the players. They lack the mental disposition of a champion. They have no killer instinct and their play is very lackluster at times.
It is quite obvious they were going through the motions tonight. They see the 8th place team come into the Koch who just had three players suspended and they think this game is going to be a walk in the park. Coaching has nothing to do with that. It is responsible for the players to execute the plays GM calls. 15 turnovers to this crap ass team is inexcusable.
With UNI tanking at the moment, even IF we do win at their place, their RPI will not help us as much as we liked to see. It is evident that it is now St. Louis or bust. The experts will now point out this horrible loss and no quality wins. Please Sunshine Pumpers, give it up with any hope of making an at-large, winning the valley.
This one is entirely on coaching. No adjustments. No nothing.
Did I just see a replay of the MSU game on that final play? Why was TM given the ball in that same exact situation after he got benched for turning the ball over for 5 minutes just before?
I am just mesmorized with the total lack of discipline that Marshall has on Murry (and others). Murry makes a bad play, he stays in for 10 minutes longer. Anybody else who fudges up, they get yanked in a nanosecond. I'm totally dumbfounded.Deuces Valley.
... No really, deuces.

HCGM is not a very good game coach, nor is he particularly apt at building a schedule.
Marshall was forced to recruit JuCo when he got here. Continuing to recruit JuCo is looking like an effort to produce a quick winner and get a BCS job.
Switching to HS players would have provided a slower route to success, but 4-year players don't tend to lose to weak teams at home.
When Marshall has recruited HS players, his record is hardly better than Turgeon's inability to recruit front court players. Marshall's successful HS recruits are Stutz, Kyles, Williams and Murry. That's one a year.
Marshall's plan to get out of Wichita pretty quick took a major hit tonight.
It's my opinion that Marshall is more concerned with the future of Marshall than the future of WSU. His method of building Shocker basketball looks more like an attempt at a quick fix rather than an attempt to build the foundation for something long-term.
His losing a class (Manigalt, Hamilton, TRich(?) and DWill (?) is reminiscent of Turgeon's bailing when he lost a class or with Lowery's losing players at SIU.
When the going gets tough, this team goes into "hero" mode and a few players start going one-on-one or taking stupid shots so they can be the "hero".
Unselfish when winning by double-digits, but playing JuCo ball in tough games has to go to coaching. The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
