  • I've never seen a conference where at this point in the season the so-called alpha-dogs are getting boned by the prissy poodles.

The best team in this confernce changes from game-to-game. STL will be entertaining. A play-in team could get hot for 4 games. At this point...nothing would surprise me in this dog show of a conference.

    • I am delighted I have a ton of other things going on and don't have the time right now to discuss this "game".

I thought this team could establish themselves as maybe one of the 10 or so most memorable teams in WSU's history. They certainly might achieve that, but for all the wrong reasons.

I tend to respect even the abysmal players that were here in the worst of times and keep my mouth shut about my personal opinions of the teams and players on the teams.

I'm starting to think Marshall will be here longer than he thought when he took the job.

        • Just got home from the game, here are some random thoughts:

          Defense was really good tonight.
Everyone leaving the game seemed upbeat about our at-large chances still.
Not that bad of a loss in reality.
I bet the selection committee looks past this loss.
At large seed will drop only slightly.
Losing to SIU was only a blow to the ego.

            • At the risk of being a total downer......

Like many of you, I spent the 20 minutes going homing bitching to anyone that would listen about how bad we are and how unlucky we as fans are yada yada.....

When I got home the masochist in me wondered aloud if it was a good thing or a missed opportunity that Bob Lutz didn't make the game tonight....for surely he would have asked Coach if THIS was the worst loss in the history of the program, surpassing the Evansville debacle last season.....

While mulling over that little gem, I got word that my 40 year old sister in law was sent home from the hospital to spend her last hours with her husband and 2 children under 10. It's unlikely she will see the weekend.

              Perspective, Doc......Doc, perspective.

Can't expect to win with those kind of grades...
Here's how the players' Prouty grades came out.

                Blair: C
                Kyles: D
                Stutz: F
                Murry: B
                Durley: B
                Williams: C
                Ragland: B
                Ellis: F
                Smith: D
                Hatch: A

You were close on most of your grades, except for Hatch. It might have seemed like Hatch had a bad game because he wasn't in there that much. But when he was in, he did pretty good.

                  Thanks Doc, I needed that!

God bless your sister-in-law and family during this most difficult time.

                  • The disgusting thing about the loss is that this team so far this year has blown basically every opportunity we have had when opportunities presented themselves.

They had recovered from the two earlier home loses and all they basically had to do was to win both games this week and pop into the top 25 teams in the country. But, no, we blow it again.

Maybe tomorrow will look a little brighter, but tonight I simply do not have any confidence that this team has what it takes to win when the pressure is on for them to do so. Expecting this team to beat VCU, MS, and sweep the tournament is so far, beyond what they have shown they are capable of doing.

I hope they prove me wrong.

                    • It looks like this season, we can't win the close games. It's either double-digit wins in the Valley or close losses.
