SIU Game Thread

I wonder if Bruce Heartl's love affair with Garrett Stutz will continue after this game, and will GS's picture be adorned on the sports page in tomorrow's Wichita Eagle? My optimism for GS having a breakout year before he graduates is sinking with every game.

And I'm very pessimistic about the SN'ers who tried to convince everyone this team was as good or better than the 05-06 team. What a miss in talent evaluation!

It does no good to play 10 guys if you don't pressure and run. What's the point? All you do is guarantee that no one gets in a rhythm... but I'm not the coach, just a fan that shoots free throws at the Y. :-)

How many more wake-up calls do we need?

Do they give wake-up calls for the NIT or CBI? WSU is not going undefeated on the road, therefore no chance for MVC title.

WSU has not won in STL, and this team doesn't have the mental toughness to win there.

This team is killing our so-called home court advantage in Koch Arena. A really hard team to figure out in some ways, not so hard in others.

The only reason I have any optimism is that our tough games are away save VCU. For whatever reason that's a plus. What a dissappointment. I'm working my way through the grief process rather quickly.

Did I hear Mike Kennedy say we had 9 fouls on SIU with 9-11 minutes left? Why not pound the ball inside and draw that 10th foul early on? Did they ever even get their 10th foul at all? Also, Fay had 3 fouls. Why not keep feeding the ball to whomever he was guarding every time down the court and draw more fouls on him? No way should SIU exploit us inside tonight on either side of the court.

Well, we lost to UMKC at home in 2008. I don't remember how bad they were, but I'm going to assume they were pretty bad.

That's what I was hoping for after the SDSU game. Silly me, I wanted a team that could stick in the Top 25 for a big part of the season. Shame on me.

I'd give Durley a D. He had the one big rebound at the end of the game but was basically non-existent.

Blair tried hard but missed too many easy shots, another D.

Ellis didn't show up to play, F.

Ben Smith tried but also did nothing, D.

Murry played an A game until his bonehead move at the end, C.

You heard that correctly but I don't think he was right. Either that or the foul on Ragland was the 10th.

We couldn't get the 4th foul on Fay because nobody, nobody, was tough enough inside. And why do we keep throwing bounce passes to Garrett's feet when he has 6 inches on the people guarding him?[/u]
