In the students defense last night as they were introducing the isu players they were throwing t-shirts into the student section. Either by design or not they distracted the upper 3/4 of the students enough to totally forget about their part in the intro.

It hasnt been the same since some Shockernetter complained about some of the first row regulars. So they take a seat back and let some of the "traditional" student up front.Follow me on twitter: https://twitter.com/Shox_KCfan

I agree. I think some of those oldsters in the first couple of rows were the ones leading the cheers. It's just too bad that some of the traditional students who have taken their places can't come through.
If you are going to sit in the first couple of rows you must lead!

But seriously. If you don't like a disorganized student section, don't whine about the organized non-traditional students....Deep in the heart of couldn't give a crap about college basketball-land and I miss the SHOX.

I'm late to the party on this thread, but it strikes home. I usually get back into town for one or two games a year. I didn't get to any last year. I went to the Indiana State game this year, and the crowd was noticeably different. In a bad way. I'm not sure why. I wish I could point out specifically what the difference was, but it was absolutely quiet during the majority of the game, and it was a game that went to three overtimes.

Re: Couple of observations

new media/video/audio people
new halftime, timeout organizers
new band director
new Cheerleader director
no Shocker maniacs leader
no place where the traditions and chants are written out
The students or SGA should be putting the traditions and chants in every Sunflower or some kind of handout.
Student Government should have someone leading the Shocker Maniacs movement, including working with the audio, video, band, cheerleaders, and students to help everyone work together.
Sadly, posting this here isn't going to help. I don't even know who to contact within the student government or at WSU to get some action.
You would think someone with the game production crew/athletic department drops by here and checks in on things. Either they don't show up here or they do and simply don't care.
We have a Top 40 basketball program that used to be Top 10 in atmosphere and game production and has now sunk into the upper 200's range. I think all of the changes have been the difference. It really makes you miss what you took for granted back in the mid-2000's.Deuces Valley.
... No really, deuces.

A couple years ago one of the posters mentioned the "Shockwave" where we do the wave but it starts in the first row and moves backwards, hits the top row, and goes back down. That would kick ass! Why don't we lobby the Alumni Association or SAC or Athletics or SGA or all of them to sponsor a competition where students can submit their idea for the best cheer/new tradition...whatever we want to call it and the top three win. Whomever sponsors it offers to pay to have 10,504 copies made before the first game next year so everyone knows what to do and when. Sure it's a lot of copies but who cares if we start something cool. I saw the guy at the Utah State game (can't remember what they call him) and it was unbelievable! Entertaining and the entire crowd got in to it.

I agree with HamShock. The students HAVE to drive this. If you know of any students who consistantly go to Shocker games tell them go to their SGA and get this going!
Another Example would be when we played Utah State. At the end of the game the ENTIRE crowd was pointing at their bench and the opposing bench screaming: WINNER...LOSER...WINNER...LOSER, etc. And it would get louder and louder. This happened towards the end of the game.
SGA or Shocker Maniacs need to make up signs and assign people to those signs and when those need to be used. Whether it is through the Cheerleaders or not doesn't matter. Get it done.
This will take organization. But it is worth the effort.Begin with the end in mind.
