Is the student chant after opponent made free throws gone? I didn't hear it last night. Good posts on this thread. All valid. Students lead our energy level. when they aren't there, we're not as loud. Our crowd is getting younger, but it is a slow process. Between older fans and the fat cat group, CKA is not as loud as it used to be. But last night wasn't bad, and the team did all the talking!

The VCU game will be loud!
Also, seriously, who is pulling the switch for the media clips? Dang!
I'm not trying to get WuDrWu started on this, but the one time last night that really baffled me was putting the AC video up to start "that clap" with about 45 seconds to tick down before we ever took the court for the second half. C'mon. THINK!!!!

Two themes:
1). The music during warm-ups was a joke. God bless the student section for trying. The most amazing part was that they went from one bad song to another - (they might be good songs, but there wasn't a distinguishable beat) Overall game management has been a little piss poor. My biggest gripe that I will do something about is Klein three point thing. It is Mickey mouse league and they will find out about it.
2) The home games have been against terrible competition. In the two good home games of the year the Shox were beat and never helped the crowd out until it was too late. I hate a terrible valley - give me the mid two thousands please.

Watching the people behind the scorers table tells me there was a technical issue that prevented the normal opening music to play. Note that they also didn't show the "bring em out" segment even though there was a camera in the tunnel. The lady running the board looked extremely irritated. I honestly can't remember another production problem this year. Maybe I missed it.
Also, I don't understand the self criticism. On our worst day our crowd is better than 90% of the D1 crowds. Our worst day! Some remember the Iowa and the Florida State games and expect that every night. Ain't gonna happen. The Bradley game was boring. Last night we were up 23 five minutes into the second half. People aren't going to scream just for the sake of screaming. We are always there when the team needs us and that's what should be expected.
If you want some objective judges, read the comments from the various TV announcers doing games in our arena. I think you will find unanimous appreciation for the WSU crowd.Where oh where is our T. Boone Pickens.

It's like someone went through and read the old posts about the music being "unclappable" and the person in charge said, "unclappable, I'll show you unclappable."
Another game production FAIL.
I do agree that the crowds seem either spoiled or bored. We have a pretty good team going here. The students are half as good as the ones in the mid-2000's were.
Need to stir the pot a little bit before we blow our chance to show our support for the guys before a possible chance in the NCAA's.
I beg of you, please don't get me started........

The cheer leaders used to have cards they held up for the opposition player introduction, didn't they? That wa probably squashed by the admin as being "negative" or "derogatory".
But isn't it the cheerleaders' responsibility to initiate cheers. Their "leader" or "director" could have appropriate signs prepared, have a pair (male-female) stationed in front of different sections, and initiate cheers at proper times.
For example, the "yellow - black" alternating cheer would be awesome. What would be the best time(s) to do that? At the 5-minute mark of each half (but what if we have possession)? Out of time-outs -- after the noise meter?
How about something like "it's too late" with 10 seconds left on the shot clock?
If the cheerleaders won't do it, somebody in the student section needs to appoint himself as "WSU Sign Man." There were several NHL teams that had a guy sitting behind the goal with a box of 20 or so signs and he would pull those out at delightful times. Always got a crowd involved. These signs should have large enough letters to be seen and read from across the arena. It may be necessary to obtain permission for this and probably even have the sign content pre-approved, but I bet the SNers would help contribute ideas and $$$ toward material/construction costs.
Also, why not get the dance line girls participate in leading cheers when they're not dancing?"I not sure that I've ever been around a more competitive player or young man than Fred VanVleet. I like to win more than 99.9% of the people in this world, but he may top me." -- Gregg Marshall 12/23/13 :peaceful:

Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare:
"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".
A physician called into a radio show and said:
"That's the definition of a stool sample."

Couple of observations
Couple of things I notice why things seem to be worse than say the 2006 season: we have a
new AD
new media/video/audio people
new halftime, timeout organizers
new band director
new Cheerleader director
no Shocker maniacs leader
no place where the traditions and chants are written out
The students or SGA should be putting the traditions and chants in every Sunflower or some kind of handout.
Student Government should have someone leading the Shocker Maniacs movement, including working with the audio, video, band, cheerleaders, and students to help everyone work together.
Sadly, posting this here isn't going to help. I don't even know who to contact within the student government or at WSU to get some action. The Sickle: A Shocker's best friend.
