Really? Their neighborhood? Are you on their payroll?

Their campus is about 1 mile from Municipal Arena.

Vbird, I love ya, but that is an interesting point, to say the least.

"The Wichita State Shockers have been down this road before.

Last year, the Shockers entered Selection Sunday with a 24-9 record (12-6 in the Missouri Valley) and No. 43 RPI ranking, meaning they were well within striking distance of an at-large bid. Upon further review, however, one thing stuck out: Wichita State had played just four games against RPI top-50 opponents, three of them coming against the conference champion Northern Iowa Panthers. The Shockers finished 1-3 in those games -- the lone win coming when the Panthers traveled to Wichita -- and found themselves NIT-bound.

This season, the Shockers' résumé looks fairly similar. At 18-4 (10-2 MVC), they're currently No. 39 in the RPI. Once again, Wichita State is on pace to have played four RPI top-50 games -- versus the Connecticut Huskies, San Diego State Aztecs and Missouri State Bears (twice) -- by season's end. And once again, their performance has been lacking, as they are currently 0-3 in those games. For this reason, Gregg Marshall and friends could be feeling some serious déjà vu March 13 if they are unable to wrap up the MVC's automatic bid." - From ESPN

I encourage any who have been reading this to listen to a question Kennedy took tonight on the pregame show (hopefully it will be archived). He indicated while WSU has not won against the top 50 he brought out these points the committee does look at:

        * WSU has been beating teams regularly both at home and on the road by double digits and those scores include going deep in the bench.

        * Strong in many team stats.

        * Still have a couple of games against top 50 left.

        * Getting respect from media such as one of top games on bracketbuster.

While I think all of this is BS, the reality is that the committee in recent years has been finding any excuse to leave non-BCS teams out of the dance.

If you have a hole in your resume the committee is going to use it to keep you out and this year we have a huge hole with no quality wins.

At best we have 2 more chances for a top 50 win but we might not have any.

VCU is actually at 53 right now but their stong remaining schedule gives them a good chance to finish in the top 50.

MoState is barely hanging in there at 48 and they are not playing well right now. They look tired to me. There is a good chance they will slip up and not be a top 50 team at the end of the year.

Jerry Palm says a team has to have a minimum of 3 top 100 wins and one top 50 win to even be considered for an at large bid. So far we barely have one top 100 win.

I do feel like our performance at Maui will help us but if we don't even get into the discussion it won't make any difference.

I still feel like we can lose one more game out of the UNI, VCU, and SMS group and still be fine but I have to admit the lack of quality wins makes me very nervous. :wsu_posters:

            Wow. That is really amazing.

That would be great if those were criteria for the tournament committee.

            But . . . they ain't.

I love the win and the way we won...but it registers on a national scale about like Pittsburgh beating DePaul (not even that)...nobody cares and it is expected. Lets just keep winning. That's the only recipe to be playing in March.

So let's say we win the Valley, beat VCU, but take 2nd at the Lew?

Tombstone--Doc Holiday---Val Kilmer to Ringo. I loved it when Ringo did his fancy pistol routine and the Doc does his routine with the cup.

I think there's a good chance that Tulsa will wind up with 20 wins and an rpi in the 60's. I also think that Virginia may crack the 100 rpi mark this month.

I think we are going to be in good shape at the end of conference play provided we keep winning but we need to keep rooting for Tulsa and Virginia to help bolster our resume.

I'm not in the "We're a lock for the dance" crowd, but is this apart of tournament criteria? Is Jerry Palm on the selection committee?

That **** has kinda went down in my book in terms of respectable "bracketologists". Some of his points in the past few years on things, including on WSU, has been horribly off and nonsensical.

                              ... No really, deuces.
