Regarding WSU's being "stuck" in the low RPI rated Mo Valley...

I switched back and forth between Drake vs UNI and St John's vs UCLA- The Drake vs UNI game was much better played, with more focus and intensity on display.. athleticism was equal, with Rayvonte Rice being the best player between all four teams.

During the Texas A&M vs Baylor game, I watched WSU vs Ind St on DVR- WSU team ball is superior to Texas A&M.

The Valley should get at least two bids this year IMO (and, really, WSU MSU and UNI are all NCAA tourney type teams with a legit shot of at least one win). Maybe The Valley will get lucky with two teams in, but these last two and a half weeks I have seen top-notch BBall from the conference., with WSU leading the way.

Illinois State was much improved from their last meeting with the Shox BTW.. unfortunately for them, so were the Shox. It's uncanny the way that WSU is blowing teams out.

The blowouts are a result of one thing, DEFENSE! Keep teaching Gregg Marshall, I'm starting to believe.

Having someone from UCONN on the committee should help us. I really don't expect much help from the big 12 commissioner.

That would be great if those were criteria for the tournament committee.

            But . . . they ain't.
Well ... since you are the expert why don't you put your actions where your keystrokes are and call in and educate him.
I am now keeping a link or two in my signature for just this eventuality. Take a look.
Deep in the heart of couldn't give a crap about college basketball-land and I miss the SHOX.

I'm curious the answer fastbow - can you post what Kennedy says? Perhaps he meant more subjectivity enters into the last few picks.

Btw - these guys actually predicted the field perfectly last year.

Per them WSU had ~15% of getting an at large on Jan 31tst. They appear to update once/week so a new one should be out today. The current prediction does not leave a team with an RPI of below 40 out so WSU (RPI 39) probably edged themselves back into an at large with the ISU wins.

Why not? Beebe worked at Wichita State for a year as Assistant AD, before working for the NCAA. I'm sure he's still got a soft spot in his heart for the Shocks.

If he still has a soft spot for WSU then maybe we should be trying to get into the big 12 (10) as a baseball only member.

We were the first team out last year (according to them)?

                    • I believe the above link is referring to last years committee. I believe that Gene Smith, the Ohio State AD, is now the committee head. The Guerrero (UCLA) and Kennedy (Kent State) terms expired last September. They have been replaced by Scott Barnes (AD at Utah State) and Stan Morrison (UC Riverside AD). We got a BCS and a Mid member replaced by two Mid members. That could help some, especially the Utah State guy. I'm sure he would like his Aggies to play a 2011 tournament team next year.

Where oh where is our T. Boone Pickens.

                      • StatJunkie showed us with a RPI of 48 and Virginia Commonwealth with 52 and have us with a 15% chance of making the Dance to VCU chance of being over 25%.

LiveRPI currently has us at 37 with VCU at 54. It also shows VCU with a 19-6 currently with an expected record of 22-9 at season's end (losing to George Mason, our Shockers [by 8.4 points], and Drexel. It does not predict that VCU will make the Dance.

Here is what LiveRPI has for the Shockers, and this includes the Conference Tournament predictions:

                        Wichita St.
                        Conference: MVC
                        Expected RPI: 31.9
Current RPI: 39 (We moved to 37 since this was done)
                        Expected SOS: 94
                        Current Record: 19-4
                        Expected Record: 25-6
                        Current Conf Record: 11-2
                        Expected Conf Record: 17-4
                        Expected Conf Tourney Record: 2-1
                        Probability of Auto Bid: 47.33%
Expected Record vs RPI 1-25: 0-2
Expected Record vs RPI 26-50: 1-2
Expected Record vs RPI 51-100: 3-2
Expected Record vs RPI 101-200: 10-0
Expected Record vs RPI 200+: 12-0
                        Current OOC Record: 8-2
                        Expected OOC Record: 9-2
                        Expected OOC RPI: 37
                        Expected OOC SOS: 57

Note: They show us losing 1 more game, an -1.1 underdog to MOST, and then losing the Championship game in the tournament. The UNI game has changed to be in our favor by 2.4 points.
