Coaches like Eddie Sutton and Bobby Knight refused to ever play another game in Wichita.

Maybe as the level of high school talent goes up here in Wichita, there will be more teams that want to come here for recruiting. Big 12 teams or whatever they are called now might be willing to recruit some Wichita kids.

Scheduling is difficult for schools like WSU. To say it is easy is just ignorant.
Bobby Knight is the one that agreed to bring Texas Tech here. So...
Junior was the one who brought TT here, correct? Or was that deal made while Bobby was still in charge?
You miss 100% of the shots you don't take....

.....but, statistically speaking, you miss 99% of the shots you do take.

Bobby was still in charge. I remember the staff was pretty excited to get the General in Wichita. I believe later that year he handed things over to Pat. Which was quite disappointing as seeing the General pacing the sidelines at The Chuck would have been pretty damn cool.

I know it is not my money. But, it really rankles my conservative upbringing for the school to pay out around $100,000 ($400,000) for four games to beat teams that rarely do our program any good, in lieu of receiving $100,000 a game for one or two one night stands.

UMKC is moving their home games from Municipal Auditorium to a 1500 seat, on-campus arena. While I like regional match-ups, I can't imagine us agreeing to play in a high school gym. It seems like UMKC is downgrading their program.

I'd still like us to find a way to play a game against one of the Georgia schools. As much as we recruit down there, it couldn't hurt.

It would be good for us. Here's the catch-22. We have to find a coach down there that's willing to let Gregg showcase his program in front of the same kids that he may be recruiting. Probably goes back to the coaching relationships.

Which one of Marshall's teams should have won the MVC tourney but didn't? Which one of Marshall's teams underachieved in St Louis? I don't see anything this year that tells me we cannot win in St Louis.
It's a "program thing". When you have never won something and it's been around for 20 years in one location, you kind of expect it to happen until somebody steps up and decides to change it.

Like winning in Omaha? Or going 6-0 to start conference road games?

This team has been doing things Shocker teams haven't done in 20+ years all season. I don't expect that to change now.

Are we in trouble for an at-large birth? ABSOLUTELY! To get one EVERY GAME is a must win. Has been since the 2 home losses. And the team, so far, has risen to the occassion.

I thought Turgeon had 2 or 3 teams that could have won in St. Louis.

The 2003, 2004 and 2005 teams, and of course the 2006.

In 2003, we had a chance to beat Creighton in the semi-finals. I think CU was ranked in the top 15.

If I remember correctly Randy Burns had the ball stolen from him.

I believe that if we beat CU, we would have beaten SIU in the final.

Look, last year was the FIRST FREAKING YEAR we even made the final in St. Louie.

Valid argument. When you have no leg to stand on, call people homers, even if everything they said is more towards your point of view than a homers would be.

Re-Read what I posted. If you still don't get it, and I'm not to busy, I will break it down for you.

Go cry yourself, because I'm not going to be no matter how we end up the season.

Your arguments would hold more ground if you didn't disappear after every loss we take in.

Some of this is not exactly true. They're trying to build a following in their own neighborhood, not downtown. They'll still have the opportunity to play at Municipal, and will do so occasionally. It's a process going from zero fan/community support to even having 1500 attend an event.

Keeping UMKC on our schedule is the least of our problems.
