  • Dodgers working on signing Schebler

Dodgers assistant general manager of scouting Logan White said he was confident he could net Southern Cal's Joc Pederson (11th round), junior college pitcher Jake Eliopoulos (15th) and Wichita State baseball recruit Scott Schebler (26th round) before the deadline.

“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying. But it was also the tragic consequence of the informational malnourishment so badly afflicting the nation. ... Americans gorge themselves daily on empty informational calories, indulging their sugar fixes of self-affirming half-truths and even outright lies.'

    Hmmm...

Interesting -- the Dodgers don't have much money because of the ownership situation, with all the infighting, and how much could anyone offer a 26th rounder anyway?

That would be surprising and disappointing if it were to happen, but the draft has not looked kindly on WSU lately, so who knows?

Is it really that surprising? f-ing MLB!!!!! They get to draft five billion players every year then sit back all summer and see which ones they really want to invest in.

Losing out to late round picks is really starting to get real old. I hate professional sports anymore, really do.

Don't misunderstand what I'm saying. More power to Schebler if he gets some descent money from them.

If they get him, that will be a great sign.
Like the previous poster said, with all of their "troubles" right now to sign him is great for them, not so much for us.

Sounds like the Dodgers won't be signing their No. 1 pick (and perhaps they really don't want to) so they might have a little extra coin to throw at some of their later round picks.

Sure hope Scott doesn't get kidnapped and disappear between now and the August 15th signing deadline.

Uh, is he in town for the NBC Tournament? Just curious.

Schebler has left the Green Bay Bullfrogs to go home and mull an offer from the Dodgers.

The deadline to sign is five days away (Aug. 16).

Missouri State lost two pitchers late according to today's Eagle:

The Bears baseball team lost two pitchers to professional baseball last week. Lefty Mike Kickham signed with the Giants after being picked in the sixth round. He went 4-9 with a 5.25 ERA in his one season with the Bears. Recruit Ryan Hafner, from Lee's Summit (Mo.) West, signed with Pittsburgh as a 17th round pick.
Today is the deadline for signing, although I don't know if they have until tomorrow since the 15th falls on a weekend.

Minnis sounds pretty solid for the Shocks. Schebler more of a question mark.

According to this article they have unitl midnight on Monday to sign:

Here is the signing tracker (Top ten rounds) linked to in that article:

Only 15 of 17 1st round picks have signed at this point. Not sure if that is an indication of the MLB teams holding on to their wallets are just a big game of chicken being played.

Only two players in the 8th, 9th and 10th rounds have not signed.

I say Schebler stays a Shocker. Going in the 26th round doesn't have much honor, or much money, to play minor league ball for God knows how long.

He could improve his standing a lot by playing for us. He has plenty of time, he doesn't need to rush things. The Shockers need him a lot more than the Dodgers do.

The Dodgers have signed the three picks before him and the six picks after him, so that may not be a good sign.
