From Paul Sullentrop’s blog:

Baseball America, in an article available to subscribers, lists WSU’s Johnny Coy as one of the top prospects in the MINK League, where Coy played this summer with St. Joseph. The story also says Coy has dropped basketball and will play only baseball at WSU. Not true, according to Coy. “Not true at all,” he said Friday afternoon. Coy was aware of the ranking, but had not read the article. “That’s weird,” he said. Marshall also said Coy remains a member of the team.

However, Wichita State’s Johnny Coy is a baseball guy after a meeting Wednesday with basketball coach Gregg Marshall. Coy quit the basketball team.
Until the signing deadline passes, I’m not holding my breath that Johnny will be back in the fall.
hoopnuts- Let it go and get a life. You are digging up old stuff and there is a lot more to the story.
There were lots of postings on shockernet on this subject at the time. It is old news and if you care to find out more of the story you can read the old threads from last year.
I am not a bit worried about Johnny Coy keeping his word under any circumstance. He is a very good guy.

Smart move to come back. If he goes off next year, he could be 1st rounder (can't teach 6' 8" and athletic) and set for life (with a little discipline and planning). Hopefully he gets to play 1B in summer ball.
If he struggles (very unlikely barring injury), he still has his JR year to fall back on.
Johnny seems to be having fun playing baseball. Glad he settled into something he both likes and excells at!
I hope he keeps his intro music.

Things have gotten better, especially when data like this is being published in the public domain. Unfortunately you will see WSU on this list because of the depth of the pitching staff required starters to be pushed harder.

It is in a meaningful format because it is in format that you can easily manipulate to get whatever question you want answered if you have any skills with excel.
He will also likely do a full team report summary.

He went to all the trouble to look these up, then didn't use the power of a database that could sort it into something meaningful and readable.
They never used to be on this list, Brent was concerned about arms, I guess since his recruiting has slipped a bit so have his standards for protecting his pitchers.
It follows the trendline down for the program.Let's hope he can hit a D-1 Curve ball!

that list is a good start to see who abuses pitchers. it tells you who is willing to let their guys throw more pitches but it neglects to show you the next start or two. those 140 pitches arent as bad when you have a week to heal. if he turns around and is on the bump again throwing 100+ pitches 2-3 days later then you have problems. that list also doesnt take into account relievers who are pitching 1-2 innings in every game (k, it just seems to be every game) their team throws. relievers dont throw over 100 pitches an outing.
the ncaa might have gotten something right when they limited the number of games allowed. i'd still like to see around 70 games played with a later ending date but that isnt quite possible.
