In the last 4 games, we've been outscored 46-12 and we've committed 19 errors. We're now fielding .942.

Normally, I'm the kind of person that tries to be positive, and no one was happier with the way the season started than I was... but holy crap, read that again- 19 errors in the last 4 games

We really need to win the series this weekend.

Unfortunately, the last four games have probably destroyed our hosting chances. Now we are fighting simply to build an at-large worthy resume. The series this weekend is so big.

Here's to hoping Coop comes out Friday and puts us on his shoulders. Someone has to.

so after seeing these guys play on the radio are the issues they had mental, physical or other? i didnt tune into either game to listen, partly because i have to find the stream on the net. so back to my question is this team as bad as they look on the radio? were the pitchers wild in the zone which resulted in more hits? being lazy and only going off what has been posted here.

now given that baseball is a funny sport that good things or bad things have a tendency to snowball, is that what happened here, as the errors mounted did it spread from one person to the next? did the hits keep coming for the cats due to a small strike zone and it caused the pitchers to be too fine in their pitching?

sorry for all the questions i guess i will just have to watch them play on the radio next time around.

you are sure of that how?

and it was nice of you to sidestep the question of how well the team looked on the radio.

If I may point out, the last four games with the errors were played on grass. How many balls have Shockers taken off grass in the preseason? It does play a lot different than turf.

If it continues this weekend when they get back on turf, then there is a problem. But remember, they still play in the Valley.

"remember we play in the Valley".

does that mean we should feel fortunate to be in a league weak enough that we can appear to compete?

                i'm feeling better already, thanks.

With a few exceptions the Valley has always been a weak baseball league so nothing is new.

Hardly buying this excuse as the reason for the shocker errors. First shox have been in artifical turf now for how many years and now we a issue?

2nd isn't the new turf suppose to play closer to grass?

Need a better excuse. Something with girlfriends and moms in it.

                        • There is absolutely no way to sugarcoat the crisis in the baseball program right now. The west coast swing was a chance for this team to establish themselves after the debacle if 2009. Instead, they went west and completely folded - like a cheap suit. Consecutive losses of 7-4, 7-3, 13-3 and 19-0. That is progression in the wrong direction.

The pitching has been suspect (at best), the hitting has been terrible against decent competition, and the defense has been an absolute embarrassment. This team is LOADED with seniors - probably more than ever in the program - who should not, can not, let this sort of crap happen.

Gene ran off a bunch guys after last season, essentially throwing them under the bus. Guess what, it is starting to look like it wasn't their fault.

All you people with your "It's a long season ..." or "It's baseball ..." stuff ... well, the season is not that long, and the crap we're seeing right now IS NOT Shocker baseball. The Shox are 10-5 right now and we're already 1/4 of the way through the schedule. There had better be a sudden and dramatic turnaround, i.e. this weekend vs. Washington State and next week at Oral Roberts, or this season will be in the dumper just like last season.

Doom and gloom. I'm not delusional, but I dont overreact either. I'm waiting to see how we stack up to the MVC. If WSU doesnt compete and the errors persist, THEN I will say that the Shox are in deep, dark, KC Shox, trouble.

I don’t think it is quite time to write the season off. There is obviously reason for concern after the last 2 games but we did beat LBSU 8-0 the first game and we were leading 4-3 going into the bottom of the 7th inning in the 2nd game and were looking really good against good competition. From that point on we have just been crap in all areas of the game.

We are in a very similar place as KU right now and they just took 2 of 3 from the #1 team in the country. KU is 9-6 and 2-4 against Warren Nolan’s top 100 teams. We are 10-5 and 2-4 against the top 100. I think what this says is there is a lot of equality in college baseball this year and if WSU comes to play we will win but if we go through the motions we will lose no matter who we play.

We need to right the ship this weekend and the weather will not do us any favors. Let’s find the team that started the season 10-1!!!

There used to be a time when this program was judged not by how they "stacked up to the MVC" but how they stacked up to the nation best teams (anybody remember WSU winning 13 MVC championships in row?).

How far this program has fallen.
