Not that I am superstitious, but can we please do away with the "Mow em down inning". It seems like the first batter always gets a hit in the "Mow em down inning".

Actually I am superstitious, but I am too superstitious to admit it. I also have sand in my private parts.

            In other MVC games today...

Missouri State trails 11-7 in the 8th against SEMO St. I hope the Bears take last in the league this year, I am so sick of them losing to one turd after another in the OOC only to get hot once conference play starts. Every year. Sickening.

Evansville leads a ranked Kentucky squad 8-4 in the 6th. Wichitan Matt Netherton in position to pick up the win if the Aces can hang on.

              Hoch

Nice job by Hoch today (although he did lose the no-hitter).

              :(

Even taking into consideration the level of opposition, maybe some of that rust is starting to come off.

Chris O'Brien is gonna be watching Cody Lassley a lot this year.

No shame in that- plus, gives us a better backup catcher than most teams.

                    Huh?

I'm just going by Live Stats, but did Harbutz really just steal second up 8-2 in the bottom of the 8th against a team that has pounded out two hits so far?

If so, that's a good way to get a teammate brushed back. I suspect Gene may have a little chat with Erik at his next opportunity.

I really don't think this plays the same in college as it does in the pros. A 6-run lead can evaporate in a hurry, players are working on skills, and the other team doesn't lay down their bats and go home. No one in college ball ever seems to be bothered much by it and certainly a 6 run lead isn't a boat race.

To be quite honest, but the way guys were sliding by the bases on the damp turf this afternoon, Harbutz might have been testing it out for himself. Sliding on this turf when it is wet is going to take some getting used to as it looks like guys were sliding almost twice as far as normal.

Harbutz doesn't have blazing wheels so i suspect the steal may have been called by Gene. Butz isn't exactly the Kenny Waddell type that can steal whenever he wants.

South Alabama was trailing E. Michigan 11-0. S. Alabama put up a 7 spot in the 8th inning and ended up winning 15-14.

South Alabama was trailing WSU 11-6 going into the 9th inning. S. Alabama scored 4 runs in their half of the inning. Luckily WSU scored 4 run in the top of the 9th.

Central Michigan was leading WSU 10-3 going into the 8th, had they not scored 6 runs in the top of the 9th, WSU might have won that game. Final score was 16-9.

WSU had a 5-0 lead going into the 8th inning against Harvard in 2008. Aaron Shafter threw 7 innings of shutout ball giving up 1 hit. Looked like a rocking chair game. Matt Smith came in relief and gave up 4 straight hits. Andy Womak relived him and gave up 3 more straight hits. All of sudden Harvard puts up a 8 spot in the 8th inning to take 8-5 lead. Luckily WSU puts up their own crooked number in the 9th to tie the game up 10-10 and win 11-10.

WSU had a 10-3 lead going into the 8th inning against Oral Roberts, they put up a 5 spot to make it more interesting. Final WSU 10, ORU 8.

WSU put up a 10 spot, 4 spot and +1 in the final 3 inning against Bradley one year after trailing 12-4 to win 19-13.

Point is in College baseball, as long as the other guy is trying to score, the you better keep scoring also. A 6 run lead is nothing.

Did we homer at all today? I am having a tough time finding it in the box scores.
