Yeah, sure would suck having a weekend series locked in against a top 50 program most years.
You realize if they join another conference that they won't have late season weekend slots open, right? This is forward thinking and ambitious. Gene and Brent are on board, and I suspect it will materialize.
Don't expect the Mvc to do anything to try and improve baseball. Take for instance the fiasco with the Mvc tournament. Changes every year as they search for a fair way that any team can have a chance to win the tournament. They would rather try and level the playing field than try to set their best teams up for success on a national level.
Now they are taking all 8 teams to the mvc tourny. Going to be no reward for winning the conference unlike in basketball where 1 and 2 gets a bye. They tried that 1 year but complained that it was to hard for the lower division teams to win it. :posterwsu:

If they join another conference do you think the other conference would take them and not demand they play in the baseball part of their conference? I think of evansville and shudder at the thought of adding another team that gives immediate gratification in only one sport. Real forward thinking would be somehow for WSU to join the big 12 as a baseball member only.

They are members of the heartland conference (division II), pay attention.
Baseball is thier only D1 program...
They are a great fit because of this. If they were to go D1 in the other sports I would think a lower tier league that is mainly comprised of Texas schools would fit better.
I hear a lot of people on this board griping about being in the Valley. If we start adding schools with names like Dallas Baptist, you are not going to get the chance that you want to move to a 'better" conference and when Dallas Baptist falls off then our league is diluted further.

1)Dallas Baptist will always be better than half of the POS baseball league the valley already is.
2)Baseball only, pay attention
3)Unless Wichita State starts up Division 1 football they will never move to a better conference.
4)You underestimate the respect Dallas Baptist has in college baseball.

Correct on all counts. The concern about DBU not maintaining their current performance is laughable. They could experience serious decline and still be top 4 RPI-wise each and every year in our crap conference.

So are you an elementary school teacher? Whats with this "pay attention crap"? Apparently for one or several reasons some of us don't think dbu would be a good addition for baseball. Pay attention. Some of us don't think they would be a good fit. And thats all I have to say about that.

I give reasons as to why, I have yet to see a valid reason as to why not. Outside of travel, although with baseball you are talking once every two years. Given the many pluses compared to the only negative thats actually valid expressed on here (travel) I have to assume some people don't understand this is for baseball only.
If you ask me I think the average person who thinks it's a bad idea is simply judging DBU on size and name alone. There is a reason why the coaching staff here and at MSU are all for it. DBU will without a doubt give the valley an RPI boost. Nevermind it gets Wichta State down into Dallas every other year. Then again who wants to risk messing up the jaugernaut that is Valley baseball.

Always? Always?
That is not saying much. Do we really need to add another possible Bradley to the conference (that is what DBU has been prior to the last 2 years - hardly elevates the MVC).
3)Unless Wichita State starts up Division 1 football they will never move to a better conference.
Never is a long time. Conventional wisdom says your probably right but who really knows.
4)You underestimate the respect Dallas Baptist has in college baseball.
Maybe your overestimating the "respect". The so-called "respect" didn't earn them an at-large bid last year even with a RPI of 38.
My concern would be if DBU will actually be able to sustain their success the last 2 years? We see in the MVC a team that pops up on the radar for a couple years and then falls back to the abyss. No doubt that the MVC really needs a couple consistent competitors to step up to the stage - is DBU that team?
