Not that it would happen in this case, but does or can a player red-shirt in this situation?

Bad news. Get it together and we'll see you on the mound next year, Brian!

McGreevy, Mateychick and LaBrie just saw the big door swing wide open for mid-week starts. Who's gonna walk through?
“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying. But it was also the tragic consequence of the informational malnourishment so badly afflicting the nation. ... Americans gorge themselves daily on empty informational calories, indulging their sugar fixes of self-affirming half-truths and even outright lies.'

That is unbeliveable and completely unacceptable considering how much help college athletes have if they just ask. Hopefully Flynn will get his act together and use this as a learning experience to better himself both in the classroom and on the pitcher's mound.

I was surprised to read that was the 1st time in 33 years that a Shocker baseball player was academically ineligible. That is pretty impressive.

I'm sure it's the answer to a future trivia question that Brian won't be proud of. Hopefully he can get back on track.

As far as a redshirt year goes, yes it has the same effect as redshirting. You have 5 years to complete your 4 years of eligibility. However, it also means Brian will probably be draft eligible due to his age at the end of his sophomore season next year. If he is not that interested in school it might not take a very high draft to entice him to move on.

I think that's already been answered....

                        Williams

I'm guessing, Rose, that the words "WSU academic performance" in the quote are there to cover guys like Williams, who was a transfer and may have been behind the 8-ball academically before getting here.

Thing is... per fairly new NCAA rules, he must have a certain number of hours toward a degree plan (progress toward degree rule) to be eligible next year. I certainly hope he gets it together. We'll miss him this year.

This is very disapointing. I thought he was poised to have a breakout year as either the 4th starter winning alot of midweek games or as the setup man or possible closer. Too bad.
