New Subject - Why isn't Chris O'Brien playing in the series? I assumed he'd be playing catcher, but his name has not showed up in the box score for either game yet.

According to information I received Saturday, Chris O has a deep bruise or related injury to his right (throwing) hand. His right hand was taped on Saturday and I did not see him throw or play catch. Don't know anymore than that.

Black takes a 2-1 lead in the Series with a 15-3 shellacking of the Gold team. That's 33 runs in the last two games for the Black.

Pretty good pitching by Josh Smith, Ryan Scoles, Cobey Guy and Logan Hoch for the Black squad especially with the wind howling out of the South today.

Tyler Grimes is now 0-15 in the series. I think I read he was giving switch hitting a try. I wonder how many LH at bats he has had in those 15 AB's? Might be an experiment that they will have to put on the back burner once the season starts next spring. Then again he maybe hitting the ball on the nose and just not finding any holes. Hard to say without being there.

I was not impressed by the hustle of some of the players on the gold team, they acted like they were in slow motion.

It was another 15-3 win for the Black.

WICHITA, Kan. - The Wichita State Black squad defeated the Gold squad 15-3 in game four of the Shocker Fall World Series. The Black now holds a 3-1 edge in the series.

Johnny Coy went 4-for-4 with three RBI for the Black, while Preston Springer went 3-for-6 with four RBI. Reliever TJ McGreevy earned the win by throwing four shutout innings with two strikeouts.

Grimes is still 0 for the fall.

I may have missed something - it doesn't look like Jordan Cooper, Brian Flynn, or Tim Kelley have pitched. Why? That's probably 3 of 4 top starters.

There looks to me like something is wrong with Grimes, he is just going thru the motions out there.

Tanner Welch had about six errors at SWOMO several years ago because some girl broke up with him.

How about the performance of T.J. McGreevy on the mound during the FWS.

If I have this right he has pitched 9 innings, giving up no runs on 5 hits with no walks while facing 31 batters.

Any 1st hand reports on T.J. from those that have been able to attend?

I read he was ranked by Baseball America in the top 5 out of the summer mink league. They have several D1 pitchers in that league. To be ranked by Baseball America that high he must be a decent hitter. That league is not going to throw a hitter all fastballs i don't think.

I thought I saw somewhere that the Summer Mink League was for D3, NAIA and high school seniors to be.

Not many D1 curveballs there, no wonder he did so well.
