          According to Sully's Shockwaves Blog:

Johnny Coy, who missed some early practices with a hamstring tweak, is back at third base.

Sounds good, now we will see if he can hit a D-1 curveball.

Anyone know anything about the fall world series. Everything i've heard is positive. Sounds like Coach Stevenson is really puting together a great group. On and off the field.

Gold evens series with an 18 - 11 win today.

WICHITA, Kan. - The Gold squad evened the series at one with an 18-11 win over the Black in game two of the Shocker Fall World Series.

Not sure if this is good or bad. I am assuming the pitchers are still being somewhat limited on how many breaking balls they are allowed to throw, going mostly with fastballs and straight changes.

The pitching was much more effective in Game 1. Of course the wind was howling out of the South today which may have had some impact.

On the one hand you like to see the offensive production, but on the other hand you would like to see a little more effective pitching.

The combined WHIP was 1.44 in the Black's 6-2 win on Saturday. OK, but not great. Today the combined WHIP was 2.67, not good at all. Of the 7 guys who pitched today only Chance Sossamon had decent numbers giving up no runs, 2 hits and 1 walk over the final 3 innings for the Gold team.

Ryan Jones, Clint McKeever, Micah Green and Ryan Hege were a combined 14 - 22 for the Gold team, including 2 doubles by Big Mac and a 2B and HR from Hege. Fortunately for the Black team the Gold's leadoff man, Tyler Grimes, was 0 - 6 or things might have really gotten out of hand.

                      Game 2

Lots of runs but . . . 5 Errors; 5 HBP; 15 BB; 5 SB to go with 0 CS

I was expecting the turf to cut down the errors.

Sure doesn't seem to slow the baserunners.

Remember that there aren't a lot of breaking balls in the fall and the top arms are shut down.

Pitching will not be an issue for ShockerBaseballv2010.

He was hit in the face with the tag at home plate and injured.

Finally got up and left the field, he was checking his teeth/nose/mouth area as he walked to the dugout.
