Did the yam wagon get boat raced tonight? :D

I'll say it again.....eerily quiet after a big, big win. Eerily quiet......

With one more day of school I was forced to leave early this evening before it was over.....Hearing the ROAR of the crowd from my deck (almost 3 miles from the Eck) was a great way to end the evening.

I dunno why my name was brought up. I didn't make a bet on win totals.

I just don't like blind sunshine pumped 24/7. It's a nice day outside right now so I'm gonna enjoy it. I certainly didn't hear you call out any predictions before the season began. It's easy to criticize when you don't even put out any balls.

Great times at the yard tonight.

          The 8th inning was SA-WEET!

The Shox stumbled to a 4-7 deficit by not doing the little things - infielders out of position, botched double plays, etc. Kelley with perhaps his poorest performance of the season and it looked like we were doomed.

Ryan Jones was the catalyst time and time again tonight. Granny to go up 4. 2-run bomb to close the gap. Go ahead RBI.

The InSt coach pulled a bonehead move bringing in the left-hander. The right-handed starter was carving up the Shox and then the lefty came in and threw gas on the smoldering fire.

Having an inning where virtually every player made a meaningful contribution was HUGE. Toss in a few HBP/walks and a bunch of solid hits and you get the mother of all crooked numbers and a SHOCKER WIN!

I hope sCUm is ready to fight tomorrow, cuz the Shox will kick their whining arses all the way back to Bugaha.

Were you at the game like the 8 of us? (BTW: Yes, you're crazy.)

Ryan Engrav has been an RBI machine for WSU.16 so far with his 13 hits. Not bad for a guy who had trouble finding a spot in the lineup.

Why burn an extra inning's worth of his pitches instead of using one of the guys from deep in the pen? I trust Kemnitz, but that makes no sense to me.
I was also in shock to see Flynn. He is our #4 starter and is probably the best #4 by far in the MVC so it seemed to me we would be holding him for the advantage in the Championship game. The only thing I could come up with is that maybe they are going to use Flynn in relief on Wednesday and bring him back to pitch 3 or 4 innings on Saturday???

According to their fans, they could care less about tomorrow.. which is just fine for me.

                    Here's why

Fever, as to why your name was mentioned, perhaps the expression "KC = God" will ring a bell with you? As our resident preacher would no doubt agree, blasphemy is seldom a good idea.

As for your sidekick KC, what the heck is a yam wagon, anyway -- is it like a turnip truck? Gotta give him his due, though, the doomster is nothing if not picturesque.

And finally, lest the usual suspects be the only ones who get criticized: nice premature surrender tonight, Ta. I'm sure KC is glad to have you on board.

                      Watcher..

He called the win-total in the regular season right on the nose. I knew we could struggle this year, but I honestly didn't believe it would be as bad as he predicted. He was right. Even after an awesome win tonight, he was still right. Our regular season sucked. The good news is it's all meaningless now if we can build on this momentum this weekend.

Maybe I should have put the god in lower-case form, but he still made a gutsy call that no one before the first pitch was thrown had dared to make. I give him some props for that.

I do find it disturbing though that after such a huge win that any WSU fan that frequents here often enough didn't offer up some kinda celebratory remarks at all. He took the time to come in here in the 5th when it appeared to be over and told everyone I told you so, but then after the final out, he is nowhere to be found. I hope he has some reasons for this because it does seem a bit suspicious.

So help me out here with this new format. If we lose to Creighton but beat Il. State and Indiana State wins the next 2 games we will both be 2-1 so they will advance as the higher seed or we would advance because we were 2-0 in pod play?

If the later is true why wouldn't we hold both Cooper and Lowell for Friday and Saturday since the game against CU is meaningless with our win tonight?

The way I read it is the schedule in pod play is the deciding factor and then head to head and after that it is the seeding. In other words if ISU (blue) wins tomorrow we are in the championship no matter what.

If thats the case it makes perfect sense why Flynn came in tonight in relief. We don't need a 3rd starter much less a 4th. I let Max Hutson start against CU and if ISU (blue) wins I would start Josh Smith or Dalton Banwart against ISU (red) on Friday and have Cooper, Lowell, and Flynn throw in the Championship game on Saturday.

Nope, we have tie-breaker over Indiana State with the head-to-head win. The only way it goes to the higher see is if all 3 teams finish at 2-1. So that's why we need Indiana State to bounce back and beat Illinois State tomorrow at 3pm. If that happens, all we need to do is win tomorrow OR Friday and we're in. Ideally, we need an Indy State win and a win over sCUm tomorrow and then we can breeze through the Friday game with no worries and save Lowell for Saturday.

Terry said he'll know better about the pod format after it's all said and done but he's not the biggest fan of it. I personally am not the biggest fan either as it leaves too many things out of your own hands. It does favor the top 2 seeds however, which in a normal season for us, would be a good thing.

But CU isn't in our pod so isn't that game meaningless if ISU (Blue) wins the afternoon game? Is there a scenario where we can't advance to the Championship if ISU (blue) wins in the afternoon? Is it possible we could go 1-2 and play for the Championship? I have to be missing something...

Nevermind, it says the best composite record in each pod, not in pod play. So we have to go 2-1 and then we are in the Championship game. I think I have it now? Too much to drink tonight???

Shox advance because of the head-to-head tie-breaker with InSt.

Gene and Brent have always been "go with your best guys in order" guys. I don't think they would hold back vs. Creighton. It isn't in their nature to throw-away any game and if it gets out of hand vs. Maldonado or some other starter, the bullpen would get used-up.

I think Flynn will be fine to go Saturday. Two full days rest after something like 25 pitches - that's an off-day 'pen, I'd say. Flynn is a big, strong kid and he hasn't really gone very deep very often this season.

I wouldn't mind seeing him as a 2-4 inning guy two or three times per week to finish games - he seems to be really solid for maybe 15-18 hitters, then they start to figure him out.

I guess we'll see if Gene and Brent use the format to their advantage.
