WICHITA, Kan. ? The Wichita State baseball team has been voted third in the annual Missouri Valley Conference baseball preseason coaches poll, announced Feb. 3 by the league office.
“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying. But it was also the tragic consequence of the informational malnourishment so badly afflicting the nation. ... Americans gorge themselves daily on empty informational calories, indulging their sugar fixes of self-affirming half-truths and even outright lies.'”
I assume you mean one 1st, four 2nd, three 3rd, and one 9th, which adds up to 63 poll points. And I guess that's possible -- maybe even plausible, considering who we're talking about -- but it's certainly not the only way to get to those 63 points.
It seems to me, after observing these MVC baseball pre-season polls for years, that on the off year where it's not obvious the Shockers are going to dominate, the poll towards the top represents the worst case scenario for the Shocks, and best case scenario for the others. Basically giving the benefit of the doubt for anyone not called Wichita State.
This year is a good example of the theory. The Shocks very well might not end up the season on the top, but for MSU and CU to bypass us along the way would take a worse than expected outcome for WSU, and a better than expected outcome for MSU and CU.

My calculation was based on the assumptions that there are 9 teams, each coach votes how they think how the other 8 team will finish. They are excluded for voting for themselves. That would mean that each team would only get 8 votes.
Now I could be wrong in that, maybe there is no restrictions, which would open up other plausible explanations such as yours.
1. We will finish either 1st or 2nd in the MVC.
2. We will have a pitcher on the 1st team.
3. McKeever will be on the 1st team, somewhere.
4. A newcomer will be on the 1st team.
