Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

Darren was the one who hit the bomb. So it was in 1993ish.
I remember watching the 89 champ game. But for some reason beating Creighton in 91 still stands out as the best one I've seen. I saw a few good ones over the years at WSU regionals. Particularly right before they switched to the current format. Unfortunately, WSU lost most of them.

There are many best games but usually the "best game" must include a dramatic finish for high stakes. There are plenty of Shocker games to mention but with respect to other games I would include the World Series where Kirk Gibson (Game 1 - 1988) came out to bat not even able to run and stroked a home run after fouling a bunch of pitches off and barely being able to stand back up. Another would be Game 6 - 1993 for Toronto where Joe Carter hit a walk-off home run jumping on each base as he crossed them.

Several Regional games at the Eck come to mind in the early '90's.....beating OSU, beating Baylor, beating California....coming back two years ago to beat Arizona twice and get to our first Super Regional......McKeever and the Shocks beating Okie State again (twice) in Stillwater this season.....can't claim to have seen the last two, but those are the only exceptions.
Wins over UT and CU easily top the list, though.

The best games I saw in person had to be: 1. First WSU win over CU in 1991 CWS (the throw), 2. WSU 5, UT 3 1989 National championship game, 3. WSU over OSU in 2008 regional championship (Mac Grand Slam).
The game that I had the best feeling afterwards had to be the 1989 national championship game. No game has come close to that one, but the 1991 WSU-CU game was definitely a better game.
I was tense and on the edge of my seat for the entire game. It was amazing how quiet those 20,000 Creighton fans got right after "the throw" (the few hundred Shocker fans in the stadium did make a lot of noise at that point). :wsu_posters:
